Ok so I don't know if this addon is already out there or not.
A window that is movable and resizable. It contains all of the raid icons and the mob, and status of said mob, that each icon is currently representing. I want to be able to modify the order of the icons in the window to follow my guilds icon kill order.
Also after each mob is killed, I would like to be able to just mouse click the next icon in the window and it will target that icons mob. Perhaps even flash a quick arrow in the direction of that mob, if that's possible, versus having to search the horizon for the next icon, or even remember which icon is next for that matter.
You could even throw on target's target info, but I'd be less interested in that feature myself.
This is a mod idea I have also been interested in seeing realized. My vision for it would be similar to the OP's description, but I was thinking more along the lines of an actual unit frame for each symbol assigned, which each raid/party member could filter based on their assignments. Being a unit frame would allow for Clique interactions and would act like multiple focus targets. My being a bear tank, I could set Lacerate to a button press and keep aggro on 4+ mobs much more effectively than simply relying on tab-targeting. For CCrs this would eliminate the need to set focus targets at all, since you could just filter based on your assignment and blam, there's your sheep/shackle/banish/trap target in a easy to see unit frame.
How long does it take a complete novice to learn how to do this stuff? I might just fart around with it if it looks like this functionality neither exists or is even on the horizon.
I am, in no way, experienced at coding AddOns but I figure I'd give this one a try. I tried working on this (basing a lot of code from Gladiator which has similar capabilities but with players) but I run into a problem where I can't target those units; they have no UnitIDs and cannot be singled out using their name. So far the only way I see this working is if it can all fit onto a secure template so that the targeting functions can be used to iterate each nearby enemy and check it's icon (through GetRaidTargetIndex("unit")). I am not proficient in XML frames enough to do this so I'm afraid that I'm at a wall.
