I've used Bartender and now Bongos since forever. Once in a while I grow tired of all this interface fiddling and I find myself wanting to go back to the roots! However, the two core elements Blizzard I miss the most, unit frames and actionbar, are also the ones lacking mostly in terms of usability.

Two addons have found my attention so far: iPopBar and SimpleUnitFrames. Sadly, both addons still lack features I enjoy having.

Actionbar

• Exchance menu and bag areas with more actionbuttons. iPopBar does this, it's too buggy though as I can't bind any keys to the extra bars.
• Modifiers: I love to have shift/ctrl bound to shiftpages on key-press, shifting back to standard barpage on release. I haven't found any addon able of doing this with the standard blizzard actionbar. This frees up a lot of space on the screen. Something like the old Bartender2_Pagemaster - just for the standard actionbar.

Unit frames

• SUF is awesome, only I'd like to see dogtag-like options. I mean, it's hard to customize the text.
• Auras can look kinda strange on standard blizzard frames.
• Visor is needed to move the frames.

.. if the title rings a bell; FlareCDE had a similar idea.

Some of you might recall PageOnPress. Whilst it doesn't work in 20100 it's the kinda addon we would need.

How and what
Switch standard actionbar page 1 with page(a) or page(b) on either shift, ctrl or alt down.

Cladhaire told me that I should be "making a secure action button and setting a binding to click on that button" but unfortunately I'm no good at LUA.

Bartender3 does this for you. I use it all the time. You can set up any of the bars to change when any of the modifier keys are pressed.

Or is that not what you mean?

No need for me to answer Billi it seems but my point is, that I actually like the graphics and all, it gives me the (fake) impression that WoW is running better as well than it is with Bartender.

Bartender and it's like is nothing like the thing I'm interested in. I want to have the default look (to some extend) of the default UI, this can neither Bartender nor any other addon I know of do.

But true, the functionality of PageOnPress IS indeed in Bartender, don't think you can take it out alone though.

I've only just started using a highly modified UI, and before I used ReactionBar, which did have an key modifier bar changer (alt only) as well as the main target based functionality. I do seem to remember it working okay until the author gave it up (due to its main feature being disabled by Blizz in patch whichever), but it was only for action bar 1, and used the standard action bar api to do it, so probably not very helpful at all. :(

Still, as you say, since Bartender can do it, I guess it must be possible with the standard look-and-feel. Actually, I haven't checked, but can't Bartender leave the default UI bits on?
