What and where is secure pie? I can't find any references to it, and I'd be more than happy to use something that already does the job, or even just provides a good starting point (like those test templates mentioned).
I was actually referring to the test templates from WoWInterface which I had linked to. It works (such as it is), and it works on keybinds - but you'll have to unbind the relevant keys of course. For example, F-3-2 starts me eating, F-2-2 casts my Healing totem ... damn, maybe I'll keep this thing in my AddOns folder. Mebbe I can hard-code some useful spells and things ... I think that the pie code ends with the line "DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Enabled radial popup menu on F, use 1-3 when buttons are shown, ESC closes");", and after that is the code for the drop down rectangle thingies.
I'm fairly certain that the rectangles are entirely mouse based: "a bunch of draggable 'unit headers' which you can click for a dropdown of ranked spells ...".
Hehe ... while I'm typing this I get jumped by some critter a couple levels over mine, and I fought the whole battle using Iriel's pie. Damn ... it worked like a charm. I wonder how I get the rest of my spells and what-nots onto it?
Lissen - a keyboard based interface is what I long for. I'm not arthritic, but abuse wear and tear have me fairly wrecked in the digits. I would sing hosannas on high in praise of whoever pulls this off. (/target Eric S, /nudge).
Personally I was a great left-hand-healer using key combos like this in FFXI. The only real difference was that target selection was done with the up/down keys on my n52. It was damn easy with the right UI :)

I was coming to that conclusion, but thanks for clearing it up. What threw me was that it was never referred to as secure pie. On the other hand, I did realize that the linked test template is most of what we want, but needed an easier way to configure it. Not sure if I'll go with a drag and drop interface, or something like click2cast, depends on the complexity and impact of the drag and drop interface.

Consider me nudged. My druid is 67, my hunter is already 70, and I only play my priest with a friend that doesn't play much, so I expect to have time to start coding this before too long. I promise I won't level all 20-some-odd characters to 70 before starting.
Nor will I. It's just that right after I posted this, my girlfriend finally realized that I really DO want her having fun with me in the Outlands, so I've been spending more time than expected actually playing.
