i'm considering a rewrite of the Cosmos bundled addon "PartyQuests", simply because i'm used to it.
If i do decide to put my time into it, i'd probably clone the majority of the code for the sake of swiftness, but would probably also scrap the Telepathy (Quest log comms) side of it, at least for the time being. I know ckknight would love to hear that ^^ (i read on the irc logs that you despise Telepathy, and want everything switched to AceComm-2.0 ;)
yea.. much better than "/p hey such and such, what quests are you on, and what else you need to do still?"
also, QuestAnnouncer (on the SVN) has *half* the functionality of PartyQuests. it keeps track of other party members using it.. when they accomplish a quest objective, anyone else in the party gets notification as well.
It can be configured to announce 3 ways. over standard party chat so all members can see (which I find annoying and spammy), using hidden blizzard-provided data channels (which only other questannouncer users will see), or both.
If your helping someone consists of reading his quest log for him, you may as well just grind his character for him.
i'll give a little example just so nobody misses the point.
I play wow regularly with my gf, she wants me to help her with a few quests, and neither of us can remember exactly what this quest is, so instead of getting her to retype the quest to me, (or more, so i dont have to actually move and just read her screen) i can just read it from her quest log.
Yes, i could just grind her character for her, but playing together is much more fun, isnt it?
As another committed fella, I agree with oridan that it would be nice to see PartyQuests come back from the dead. And Mr. Penguin sir, I do think you missed the point. ;)
But tho it was stellar in it's time, like I others I make do now without PartyQuests and let QuestsFu do an admirable job of covering the gap. It would be wonderful to look through her quests and mine and overlap them in the right way, but as it is we focus on what we both have on the books and do the rest as we can. It's a damn sight more than reading her quest log ... and no, I wouldn't grind her character for her. With a full party, this was even better. This is one of the lovely built in features of City of Heroes.
As to the other thing, DoubleWide is a great and light quest window tweak if you want that window to be *cough* Double Wide. Between that and QuestsFu, I'm reasonably satisfied sated.
