OK, there is these really nice looking Ace2-TotemTimer-addon: GotWood
The only thing i really miss as a shaman regarding Ace2 mods is a nice Totem organisation/button bar.
I believe nearly every shaman knows this problem. You can
a) keep a lot of bars on screen with all your totems you will >eventually< need or
b) download an addon like Call of Elements (*cough* memory abuse *cough*) to manage your totems.
Unfortunately there is no Ace addon doing this job. :(
I'm currently using DAB to create some sort of totem menu, but this isn't much better memory-wise than CoE. -.-
attached is a mokup, to show how i imagine such an addon could look like.
some features i would like to see, that are not visible in the mokup:
- sort elements in the "Main Bar" and totems in the "Drop Bar"
- choose which totems appear in the specific element's "Drop Bar" (p.e. to exclude stoneclaw totem o.O)
- support for some of these nice ace2 cooldown addons floating around :P
i would be really grateful if someone could create something like this as i don't even have a slight clue of lua.
lol i came to post a similar request
im just now playing my 1st shaman and am loving gotwood?
currently im using totembar from WoWI ( http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=4954 ) but would love to see an ace'd version, so i was wondering a few things, would something like this benefit from being ace'd? i dont know a whole lot about how stuff works yet lol
what i was thinking in terms of functionality would be essentially a dynamically created frame (perhaps by scanning the spell book? perhaps one of the spell libaries has this type of functionality built in?) and then creating 1 row with 4 buttons, 1 for each element.
you could then mouseover (or shift-click or something to select the actuve totem for that element) then just click the button to drop it
something like this + gotwood? would be a complete totem management system (once gotwood? is completed in terms of features)
So what? It's not Ace'd. Big, hairy, sweaty deal. You can't determine the quality of an AddOn based on its use of Ace or Ace2. There are bad Ace AddOns and good non-Ace AddOns.

i knew that someone would start a discussion of that sort ... -.-
of course you are right there are good and bad ace addons, but nevertheless there definitly is potential in Ace to improve an addon of this kind.
for me "aced" is a synonym for good written addons with low memory consumption in mind. i don't really care if one of those brilliant addon devs takes up the idea an realizes it without the use of ace.
I can't wait to get an alpha of this mod to start testing it out (whenever that may be). One feature I would like to see, which is a ripoff of Call Of Elements, is to have a totem set (one totem for each element) that will change when in a PvP setting based on the class of your target. Then, a single keypress could drop totems from this set, one by one, until your target changes, rinse and repeat. There could be pre-set defaults for each class, which could be edited by the end user through / commands.
I'm going to give ArchiTotems a try for now, but given the talent of programmers on this board, I have a feeling it can be done better.
*Edit*
After testing ArchiTotems, I'm REALLY hoping somebody will make this an Ace mod. It doesn't do much of anything right: It detects other shaman totems and thinks they're my own, popping up the countdown timer for a totem I haven't thrown. It doesn't display any type of warning when a totem is destroyed or expires on its own. It would be great to be able to feed that information through SCT (or its own frame for those who don't use SCT, of course). Also, there's no option to show tooltips on the totem bars. Since I used this to get rid of several action bars, there's no easy way to check on, for example, mana cost of a particular totem, without opening your spellbook and tracking it down. Once in a while a certain element will get "stuck", so the bar stays in the mouseover position until I choose another totem from that element. I have a feeling there were more gripes I had, but I can't seem to think of them at the moment. Anyway, hopefully we can collectively make THE mod to make all shammies lives easier.
*Edit 2*
Another ArchiTotems gripe: the only way that the countdown timers ever STOP counting down is when they expire at their regular time. In other words, if it gets destroyed ahead of time, or if you die, the timer keeps on a'ticking as if it's still there. That, and half the timers are set to the wrong duration by default.
Tested both Call of Elements, and Archie Totem for this earlier.
But when your slimmed Ace'd UI jumps from 0.0 KiB's to high 20-30ish, its not fun :\
Using DAB with floaters and hidden bars to do the same job atm with alot less usage, so a nicely coded version of a mod like this would be appriciated :)
I used Flextotem for a while. I like the idea how it works but it uses Flexbar, with every new version it uses more and more memory, so I have stop using it and now really looking forward to find an aced alternative.
im begging work on a project like this but im also quite new to ace and addon coding so expect it to be a while before we have a alpha to test ;)
once i get the basics going then we can start with the "add this, add that" requests :)
(oh and if Tekkub and Moonsorrow don't mind, thats the name, "Sportin' Wood")
Awesome! I thought this project was going to disappear. Glad somebody decided to start work on it, I am anxiously awaiting the finished copy. If you need anybody for testing, don't hesitate to let me know.
thanks :)
like i said, it might be a while, im pretty new to this whole coding thing lol
writing an entire addon is a lot more than just hacking Id's chat code hehe
i hope to have some of the basic framework in place over the next few days or so
its a toss-up, have fun leveling my shaman or work on my shaman mod... ;-)

ideas, comments, suggesstions?
Here's a proyo-type from a ways back...
Not sure if'n it still works.
i already tried that out, not as bad as CoE, but still has a lot of stuff i don't want to be in there (totem timers...) and it is not aced :P
As a start we could just have GotWood able to drop a new totem when you click the button/bar. That would be sweet.
Grrr.... Pet peeve time...
