It changes the format of damage done & taken, recolors crits, names, etc. and in general is a pretty sweet mod that I love :)
i have used it for a very long time, but the mod hasn't been modified since it's original release five months ago :(
i'm wondering if one of you ace aficionados can either update it or rewrite it with ace stuff. i was lookin at my savedvariables files and saw that hitsmode has a 262k file o.O seems a bit much for a combat log replacement :D
I've had an idea for something of a cross between hitmod and SCT. If I ever get a chance to work on it. The basic idea is to side by side transparent windows. One shows damage/heals to you and one your target. Color coded etc. Bascily SCT moved into chat frames thus eliminating all the on_updates SCT uses and providing the ablity to scroll back though the recent combat spam.
Thirster, that's an awesome idea. You could even 'emulate' SCT using a chatframe in fact by using a fixed width/height frame which inherits the chatframe's template. All you have to do is make sure it has no tabs and buttons (ChatScroll can help with that) and that the background is completely clear and see-through. Then you'd just AddMessage like with any other chatframe.
Thats what I did for myself H E R E. Two additional chatframes, fully transparent ... 1 for error redirect, 1 for my own little addon, that just parses for warlock nukes and curse of doom (only 2 events needed - that was what I had SCT installed for ... to see shadowbolt dmg on mobs that are too large to see the built-in number over the mob head) (I have Resist/Immun messages going to the same frame, but I just edited the resist/immun recognition function of CountDoom / AceTimer)
1 thing to do on chatframes is, hide all the resizer-parts. They aren't click-through if visible, even if the chat is locked and will block clicking mobs or right-click camera turns. And, its nicer on not fully transparent chatframes too - as you can see in my screen, no dark lines in the lower 3 chatframes (last but not least I had to exclude the 2 chatframes in the ChatScroll addon I use -- was irritating that the mouse scrolled the chat instead of zooming in/out of the world, made keybindings to scroll up/down those chatframes)

Mozz has a tweak set, and one portion fixes this issue: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=4046
Prevents the corners and edges of chat windows from intercepting mouse clicks when the chat window is locked.
Prevents the casting bar, breath/exhaustion meters and rested indicator from intercepting mouse clicks.
Im not a coder, so I dont know how efficient Mozz handles this.... but it is a place you can look at for ideas. Then again you may already know what you want to do in the hiding of the resizer-parts..
Eager to see this mod I use the SCT mod and would love to see a mod that is more efficient.
Not much code, and it's just coded in a way I could as a non coder - I'm sure there are better ways for nearly anything ;-) ... like I wrote earlier, I just registered two events, that are necessary for warlock nukes and curse of doom ... when this events happen, I only check arg1 to be "Your Shadow Bolt hits" etc pp ... ok, I'm lazy and just upload it
the mod is sooooo outdated, i tried to dump it this weekend, but could not get the combat log the way i like it.
it wouldnt color the stuff i wanted the way i wanted, heals were always red, couldnt change it no matter what i did. actions like openeing chests were always red, etc. no options to configure those colors i guess.
couldnt turn off other ppl's dmg spam either, wtf. so annoying, i can hardly keep up with MY OWN damage let alone someone else's.
please please an updated hitsmode or some sort of combat log replacemnet is needed!
Well I know its not Ace'd, and I've personally never used it, but I know there is a Nurfed combat log out there similar to Hitsmode that stays fairly updated. If you're interested check out their forums for more news and updates regarding it.
