Being a big supporter of Titan (I suck at UI coding, Titan makes it easy for me to make a simple UI) I'm all for this. I'd be happy to rework my mods to work with Ace'd Titan. Lesse that means you've got ModMenu, ItemizedDeductions, Mail, Durability, NetWorth, DefenceTracker and some others I'm forgetting on your side ^^
Please please PLEASE make Titan more efficient, it tacks a whole 7 seconds onto my UI load (might sound stupid but I do reloadui a lot as a coder)
Just wanted to let everyone know that Turan did pass me the code he had been working on For AceBar, I just havn't had a chance to look at it yet and to try to get it to work.
Thank you, Kaelten. I've no doubt that AceBar (or whatever you decide to call it) will be the most popular of the Ace AddOns and will attract more users/developers to Ace.
I already have a pseudo-AceBar at the bottom of my screen with AceClock, AceMoneyDisplay and AcePerfMeter. Used Visor to make the size of AceMoneyDisplay match that of the other two and squished the width of AceClock a little to eliminate some unused space. Fiddled with the code of NeedyList and WaterboyLoc to make them look (color/transparency/size) like the Ace AddOns listed above.
I had a load of good Titan modules out there that competed with the best of them, the code was shitty though thanks to the Borgian confines of Titan module coding. I would love to convert my modules to (and make new modules for) AceBar where I know I'd have both OO goodness and the freedom that code deserves to have.
It seems to many of the titan plugins have ace equivalents already - Ace Clock, Ace Money Frame, Ace Performance Meter, etc... Could the Ace Panel pull the output from these? Or make the core such that you could pull in the addons themselves as modules?
I did AceClock and AcePerformanceMeter both as a learning addons and with the idea they would both become elements of the future AcePanel if neede. Once an Aced penel/bar where is release they will either both be converted over to use it or be deleted if no longer needed.
Well in light of that, might want to create a group of devs that will develop AceBar and copy*cough* Titan2 instead of Titan (original).
Instead of only 1 person is developing 1 addon which will make all other addons in your plate developed really really really late or not at all, then a group can better give attention to it ;)
No I don't mean literally 'copy' per se, though I meant, Titan2 has 2 bars, one up and one at the bottom. Then it comes with built-in 'sub-add-ons (if you will)'. ^_^ Just like your KC_IT. :D
I think it should be modeled more after Titan 2.xx, 2 top, two bottom.
Requests:
- Let us define the bar width! I want mine on only HALF my screen (IE one monitor)
- Let the user place a button/plugin/whateveryoucallit on the RIGHT side also. Heck a center binding might be nice too (I mean center per-plugin not all like titan does)
- Make the template handle icon+text, icon-only, and text-only for EVERY plugin, don't make us define many frames.
- User-setting for the "gap" between addons
My main gripe with Titan 2 is that when one bar is auto-hidden, whenever you hover the mouse on the bar zone, the bar shows up, making it a pain to click whatever might be under the bar.
Delayed show or the bar showing only when the edge of the screen is tapped would be nice.
So whats the status of this puppy? I've been excited to see any kind of concept or alpha stage of this, but no one has stepped up to the plate with a swing at it.
I SO wish my talents enabled me to make this type of thing. I have a long way to go however before I can do it. :(
Seriously like half the mods I've written use Titan for display, it's just a nice simple place to ancor info and menus. I can;t wait to see how AceBar handles stuuf, I forsee a simple transition from the cmd structure to menus with minimal changes to an already Ace'd mod.
Well guys, now that he's updated AutoRepair ... he has nothing to hold him back so I say we hold Kael to his word on AceBar. With fervour!
For I too have old TitanPanel AddOns that were for TitanPanel before TitanPanel went from good to suck, then from suck to blow. Just a note to Kael, remember KISS. Oh please do. Don't try and do more than a bar is supposed to be, don't try and be the new TitanPanel because that'd make me disown AceBar. ;p
Be the old TitanPanel, back when it was beautiful and unbloated, back before the incredi-suck and bloat set in. I want to convert these AddOns to something worthy and I know if anyone can make worthy, Kael can. It just has to be KISS.

What is the bloat in titanbar, Rowne? Besides, in my mind, all the stupid "default" crap he gives out, which I either have to let load, or delete EVERY TIME I UPDATE IT. Sure would be nice if he just provided titan mod addons like everyone else... :P
But what about the titanbar is bloaty now? Just the implementation?
I mean, the ONLY thing that's been said on these forums is "let's make it" and "make it like 2.xx" and "don't make it bloated."

I definately like the "show icon" and "show description text" options, those are integral to how I use this.

Whatever you do, don't force a bunch of stupid class-specific addons to people in the default package. Go as minimal as possible, and let them download what they want to use. Every time I update TitanBar, I have to RE-DELETE "Ammo" and "Honor" 'cause I don't play a hunter, and I don't do PvP, and my machine can't handle more mods. Furthermore, since Ammo and Honor haven't changed in forever, there's no reason for me to keep downloading updates to them just 'cause TitanPanel gets some bugs fixed. Just provide the bar, and maybe a list of links to barmods you know of?

Hey, some sweet options could include: show on top, show on bottom, SHOW ON LEFT, SHOW ON RIGHT (compact views become important then, but some people do like bars on the sides... I know, it seems crazy. :)) -- and possibly even have each be independant, I could have a bar across the top and right, and put various TitanBar Mods onto different spots depending on how I want it. Each mod should have a "go right" "center" "go left" (up, down, too, for the sides, or for a double-height bar, which should also be possible:P)...
Comments like that are what I think are important. Also, some design ideas from Kaelton/Turan/whoever has seen the code. What *IS* happening? What decisions have already been made?

I love Titan's functionality but it's on ye ol mod bonfire of laggyness. Any chance of having a monkeySpeed type thing to it? :)

Eagerly looking forward to this one!

New to this, so... just my 2 cents.
