Titan Panel is for some people a must have addon. Since the author of the addon is missing in action, what would be the advantages of rewriting the addon in Ace?
I actually do have a stub AceBar that provides most of the framework, including the ability to register plug-ins. But it's very rough and I have no plug-ins for it. If someone wants to take it over and go from where I left off or even start over with a new design, I'd be glad to work with you on it.

There lies another problem I starting to see over and over again. That individuals are deciding to create their own add to address their own needs and not improving the original. Leaving the user with many alternative addons but that feel usually unfinished. Now when looking for a addon to replace my currently abandon one, I am now confused by the pleathra of choices and most are not even updated to the latest v1.7 patch.
When the author of MyInventory stopped updating his addon, Ramble came in with MyBags to replace the hole that was left. Now I see that Ramble wants to address an important issue he has with the inventory system and all updates of MyBag are in limbo. I have switched to OneBag because of frustrations with bugs in MyBag. But what happens when Turan gets bored of World of Warcarft and OneBag updates are a thing of the past.
I am starting to wonder if Norganna is ahead of the curve with how she has handled the progression of Auctioneer, Enchantrix and Gatherer. I am really interested to see how the void of Titan Panel will be met when Blizzard finally changes the code to where it won't function unless someone updates it.
This is a risk that just can't be avoided if you want to use third-party addons. If no one wants to work on the addon, it will stagnate. The same is true of Auctioneer, Enchantrix, and Gatherer. If no one wanted to continue where Norganna left off, those addons would just stagnate on Sourceforge in addition to regular addon sites.
And just for the record, I've been bored of World of Warcraft for months. ;)
I'd also be interested in looking at the code. I don't know if I'm up to the point of taking over the whole bar portion but I could probably start creating plugins to give it something to do instead of being an empty bar to start off with.
Hehe. Not anytime soon, no. Sorry. I've just been busy this week. I'll try to get the code posted somewhere for the two of you to peruse. I also want to write up what I was doing so it makes some sense. Then you can either continue from where I left off or scrap it for a new design.
Not directly, at least not in my approach. What I'd do is provide an optional module that would implement this compatibility. That way the core remains efficient but Titan plug-ins can be shoe-horned to fit.
I'm sorry. I didn't have time to package up AceBar this past weekend. AceGUI took me longer than expected, and AceBar is based in part on AceGUI. I just want to get AceBar back to a state where what I already have works again, then I'll share it privately with Syntoad and Thisterhall and see if they want to take it over or help with it or whatever.
Just to be clear here (no offense to anyone), you mean Titan Panel, not Titan InfoBar? I personally like panel better and would love to see that ace'd :)
Seems like Norganna is solving the fall off the face of the earth problem by training apprentices and having them all work from a common upload site. She assigns bug resolutions to her helpers and such. Means there will be somebody (or somebodies) immediately ready to take over should she fade away.
An aced TitanPanel, now thats something that would make more people switch to Ace. Sadly I have close to no skill when it comes to programming, but I would gladly help test any beta/gamma/baby AceBar project.
I was a diehard titan user for a little while, but it taxed my system way too much. I would really like to work on a core replacement for titan panel, if I could check out your code also, it would be appreciated.
