an aced version of "AutoBuff" would be pretty good as it helps remove self only buffs from my action bars.
This is one of those AddOns I use but is... lets say... is "Boarderline Cheating" or "Boarder line considered a hack" same with decursive. Not sure how amny people would want to get messed up in this, but hey if any one whants to do this it would be great and i would appreciate it.
When you say automatic, what do you mean? AutoBuff buffs the player when they click or move with the arrow keys. Is this what you mean by automatic or just not an actual "bot" that does it without the users input?
To stay inline with Blizzard's policy on AUTOMATION ... the only acceptable MOD for this would be a mod that is triggered when the BUFF EXPIRED event is thrown and will notify you if this is a buff you can recast depending on your class.
This function is ALREADY built-in CT Raid Assist and does not require a raid functionality. You can keybind a key to this function and it will recast that buff for you.
If you guys REALLY want this type of mod then just ask and I might go for it (Although I'm a player first, developper second in my time priority table GOD DAMN PVP LADDER SYSTEM !)
Personally I use AutoBuff only because my main is a Warrior(No buffs, well it has auto battle shout but that just wastes your rage sometimes.) and I often play my mage alt. Hard to remember to look at your buffs every 30 mins when your used to a 3 min buff.
Anyways ya auto buff Technically doesn't violate the rules since what you do requires user imput. When ever you click or hit an arrow key it buffs you.
If I ever get skilled enough to take it on, I will. I've looked at AutoBuff and it doesn't look too bad. I might start on it today or tomorrow and see if I can even begin to comprehend the horribleness of it not being Ace'd
Ok... after looking at AutoBuff I can only draw one conclusion... If I ever get around to making an Ace'd version of AutoBuff, it will be completely new. There is no way I'm going to conver that gigantic thing into Ace. I started converting it, then realized I had only gotten like 1/32 of the way through it. Plus I think there are alot more efficient ways of doing alot of the thing that it does.
Also, if I ever do an AceBuff, then it will not have a GUI. So just be sure that if your a Paly your up to the task of switching your skills On/off the first time. :P
I personally use both needylist and buffbot, and would love to see the two merged and ACE'd. Here's my only complaints/ideas/whatever...
I love NL's config for x need applies to y class, but when using this scheme you can't override on a per-player basis. Example, my hunter decides he wants Bless of Wisdom instead of might, with BB I can just target him and type /bb =w, but NL I can't do this, it's all hunters or none, or no class set at all, mixing them would rock.
BB in general is great except it's lack of UI. If I'm buffing I don't know who's next and what they're getting. I'd love for the "one button" functionality in NL to be tweaked so it'll only cast buffs and/or debuffs. Right now it just considers the first need shown. I'd love to tell it to ignore health and rez when I hit the "one button" command.
So yea, if someone were to ACE NL or BB, those are my thoughts on what should get changed. Oh and add Mana to NL for Druids, and maybe show player who are drinking/eating as a "resting" need, like the now-broken GoodToGo mod.
If anyone were to make an Ace(D) version of Gaff's Buffbot and tie it into KeyMinder's hookstylin', I'd love them forever and ever, literally. I'm using a butchered version of Buffbot at the moment to do soemething similar but it's far, far from an ideal system. If you're out of rnage or you can't see them, you could take five steps forward before you actually buff them when they are in-range, if that makes sense? But yeah, it really needs to be done by someone who's good with buff systems.
I'd do it myself but I just don't have the strength of will anymore to sit down and make a project that big.
What we really need to do though is to create a better version of ActionQueue and then to base our BuffBot off that, goodness knows ActionQueue could use work and I know just the guy to do it. I need to pester him on IRC more to see if he will. :p
Great idea first of all. Please allow me to make a few suggestions though.
Why not make 1 addon (that is aced) for all classes as autobuff did? I know your trying to keep size down in oreder to reduce lagg but i believe just a cahnge in logic would be able to do that easily. it would work something like this (roughly).
1. Check spellbook for all selfcastable spells or tracking and there highest rank.
2. List all spells in a window.
3. User then checks the spells he wishes to be automatically cast on any movement i.e. front, back, left, right, strafe left, strafe right, jump.
4. When said user checks the box next to a spell to be auto cast a sub menu pops up below that spell with boxes for Combat (in, out), always and rebuff time as autbuff's options are.
5. When the config panel is closed the only list of spells stored are those that had been selected.
6. For rebuffing I was thinking about using timex to time when a spells buff is either over or 5 seconds till over or 10 seconds whatever the option is set to. ( This MAY stop the problem of "Can't do that while sitting." ) I think if you were to use timex to check when a buff is needed you would cut down on used system resources.
This would allow any class to set up the same addon for themselves, any buff ever introduced by blizzard would automatically be able to be added (maybe even a popup asking to add a newly learned selfcastable spell to the autobuffing list). I think by doing it this way it would be a much more efficient addon and much much smaller. Oh yeah and did i mention it should definately be an Aced addon? got to wowace.com
