I downloaded this addon update to see if there was a big difference comsidering the dependency changes. Well if you would have bothered to look at the .toc file you would see that this addon is still dependent on Chronos. No where does it show that it's dependent on Timex/Ace. If I turn Chronos off in the addon directory, the wardrobe addon is disabled. The only thing this that has seemed to change is the dependency on Sea and now that is optional. I looked at the files in this down load and I could not find anything that states that the addon depends on Timex or Ace. On my character screen I disabled both Timex and Ace and the Wardrobe addon still functioned. The only time it was disabled was when I disabled Chronos. I dont see that there's a difference in this version and the origional other than the Sea dependency. So I have Timex/Ace in my folder and they surve no purpose. Even your download has Chronos in the package and you are posting that it's free from Chronos.
This is a paste of the .toc file that came with the addon in the posted link. Something missing?
Timex comes with a Chronos placeholder that replaces the Chronos directory and redirects it to Timex. Rowne made the placeholder available so that players wouldn't have to edit their toc files to use Timex.
I only bring it up because the only addon that I have that is dependent on Chronos was the Wardrobe addon. Currently Chronos is bugged at least on my part and if there wasnt any dependency then I could get rid of it. Also if one is going to post that the addon is no longer dependent on Chronos, then the .toc file should have been corrected before bundling in zip. That way no one has to make the changes.
The changes were pretty much a 'hack' of a released mod. SpiffyJr didn't want to release it officially, which was obvious if you read all of the posts here and on Curse.
The mod works just fine if you can read instructions and have some type of notepad editing knowledge. In other words, things anyone browsing the "DEVELOPERS CORNER" section of this forum should know.
Doesnt matter. You are still missing the point and if you bothered to pay much attention to the cursed site, other dead or out of date addon are modified all the time and the changes are post with the correct files. As long as credit is give there is never. I'm just pointing out the erroe in what you are saying and what you are providing. Dont get mad. Have a coke and a smile and get over it.
Timex replaces Chronos. You'll need Timex (the timing AddOn that takes the place of Chronos, is much smaller and more efficient), Ace (because Timex requires Ace), and the Chronos Placeholder (nothing more than TOC file in a directory redirecting Chronos-dependent AddOns to use Timex instead).
Now when you get the Chronos Placeholder don't just plop it into your /Interface/AddOns/ directory unless you've deleted Chronos first.
This modified Wardrobe will still require Chronos or the Timex/Chronos Placeholder it came bundled with. All that's really been changed is the Sea dependency.
If you're interested in another AddOn that's completely free of dependencies... ... I like EquipManager by Saien.
I changed the dependency line on the .toc file and dumped Chronos. Addon works fine without it being there. I was just making a statement about telling players that this redone addon doesnt need chronos when obviously it does because it added as a dependency and it's in the package unless one makes changes to the .toc file.
As for Equipment Manager, unless there have been a whole lot of fixes, I had it and it was buggy as hell. That's why I switched to wardrobe.
obviously it does because it added as a dependency and it's in the package unless one makes changes to the .toc file.
Nah, it either needs Chronos or a somewhat more superiour solution that can actually Chameleonize itself as Chronos. Timex provides a placeholder (a faux Chronos directory, which isn't really Chronos at all, it's just a mock-up) which allows users to use Wardrobe without actually editing the toc file in the first place. Providing you have your faux Chronos folder and Timex in place, you won't need to edit any toc files.
The Chronos folder that's in the package isn't Chronos at all but a mockup. Think of it as a placebo for AddOns that think they need Chronos, it just passes them along to Timex instead.
Is it just me or is this mod broken? I haven't used it in a while and now it seems that I can't save, edit or apply different outfits. I cleared my savedvariables and still no go.
I'm still using an older version of Wardrobe - the last before the dependencies were added. It lacks some of the functionality of the newer version (for example, no auto-switching) but works fine. It sounds like the version here is less of a hog than the Sea/Chronos dependent version, but is it worth the "cost" of any dependencies?
For my higher level characters (which I don't really play anymore) switching out gear with +mount speed attachments when mount/dismount was the main bonus. The graphical differences are nice, but overall functions between the old version and the new are similar.
btw, someone told me the latest 'wardrobe-lix' version ran without SEA and with Timex or Chronos. Anyone tried it yet with just Timex?

Coz there's no point in changing wardrobes when you enter Plaguelands, it makes more sense if you enter Capital Cities ;)
I think the reason for switching when entering plaguelands is to auto equip the AD trinket... In any case I was fairly hooked to wardrobe, but a couple of days ago I decided to give ItemRack a go, and I've not turned back to Wardrobe since.
(consensus: I should listen more to some people here on the forums 8) )
I'm using the beta2, although I havn't really tested the auto switcher for forms etc, partly because I don't always want that and partly because I havn't played very much since I installed it.
Well I've gotten no errors with that version so far anyways.

You might want to take a look at ItemRack, though...I find it vastly superior to Wardrobe or EquipManager.
Agreed^^. Yet switching whole sets can get complicated to create.
Anyone know how to turn off the annoying "switching to outfit" spam?

I use this version of Wardrobe -> http://www.curse-gaming.com/mod.php?addid=2243

It's called the "Wardrobe-lix Capital version".
Uses Timex and not Chronos.
^_^
So far, better than any other Wardrobe variations I've seen.
