That's an awesome idea, especially if it equipped them for you too. Hell, that'd eradicate the need for sets! That would completely blow things like Wardrobe out of the water. I'm impressed by the ingenuity of your idea. I've never been too good with juggling stats though. This is really for people who're used to making things like proc-ing AddOns and the suchlikes.
But I like my sets! Sure I have my max DPS set, my max STA set, my max mp/5sec set...but I also have mixtures. For Onyxia I'll just wear my max FR set but for Ragnaros I want a healthy mix of FR and DPS. :P
Not many people can, speak. This is often the reason I'm disliked because people assume one way or the other, assumptions are bad. It was nice of you to admit you couldn't. I was actually being sincere. If it's made right and it did all the calculations correctly then it shouldn't be hard to pick out the most apt armour-set given a bunch of rules to work from. The Addon could also come with the ability to auto-switch, for example it would have a table that would hold defaults. Say for Bear it would look for the best overall str buffs and armour. If someone morphed into Bear then it would pick items from the primary and the secondary rules. So if str is supplied before armour then str would be the primary and it would balance that as best with armour as possible.
in fact, I perceive this would be an incredibly simple thing to do. The only hard part is, again, scanning tooltips for item info. I've never done that so I wouldn't know the best way to go about it.
Maybe I should do it myself... always fun to do it yourself, since you get it "just right(tm)".. problem is that it takes time away from playing the game. I should cancel wow and spend time making stuff instead =)
