i would like to see an add-on that simplifies warlock demon training. maybe something that hides already known grimoires and ones that can't be learned yet. i think this should be in the default blizzard ui. buying demon spells is more time consuming than it should be. i thought someone would have done a simple add-on like this by now, but i'm having trouble finding one on any of the mod sites, so i thought i would come here and make a request. anyone else think this could be a helpful little add-on?
I agree, I played a warlock to 24 one week and when I went to do training for my demon, I was always confused with the books. Im not sure how easy it would be to make such a thing, but this is a GREAT idea, maybe Rowne would have some input.
In beta the demon trainer was like a normal trainer, and offered the skills that fit the current summoned pet -- you had to summon all pets and reopen the trainer all the time, but it was easier than the book mess that it is now.
I thinkthe issue is there is probably no way to find what each pet is trained in except the current pet. An addon would have to learn and keep track of that info over time as you use the pets and train them. I might be able to be done like the bank addons where you need to go to the bank first to initialize the list of stuff in the bank. You would need to summon each pet to initialize the list of what each pet knows.
those are really great ideas and i hope to see them implemented if possible in a future add-on. i was wondering if maybe just color-coding (blue maybe) already known spells would be an easier route to take.
what would really be nice is if you could change the merchant window to only display spells that you need. some kind of filter to filter out spells you already know and spells you can't learn yet.
I would suggest checking out the code from HUNTER HELPER. This addon requires the hunter to open their training window once to "learn" all the spells that the hunter currently knows. Based on this, when in the wild a known tamable beast will show a green note in the tooltip if a new (higher level) skill is available to learn via taming.
Now, most of that has nothing to do with Warlock pets. However, an alternative coding style could compute what skills a Warlock currently knows after summoning each type. From that "learned" listing, upon visiting a warlock pet trainer, something could be built either in a new window that displays what skills are known and unknown, or a pop-up in the tooltip for what books that particular vendor sells, or some hyjacking of the window itself to "shade" the books in the trainers inventory a certain color.
The last one would be the trickiest, as it's possible that not all pet trainers would have the same ordered listing, or offer the same books (some in newbie area's may have level restrictions). But I dare to dream, so you all must suffer my brains farts such as this.
One way to address the problem would be to create a drop-box filter like regular trainers: already known, buyable, not available yet (I don't remember how it is exactly stated, but you get the point)..
As for saving the pets' skills, I guess it can be done like people already said: scanning summoned pets and keeping a list with the skills.
