I was wondering if anyone would be able to get Rauene's PetDefend mod to work again and preferrably with Ace...because Ace is ownage. :) A lot of hunters (including myself) sorely miss this addon. Thanks.
I have SmartPet 2.5.1 (I think that's the version) but I didn't think it defended all of your party members. I grouped yesturday and my pet didn't seem to do anything when my retarded gnome friend got owned by 4 ghosts. Maybe I'm crazy and just don't realize it because it doesn't spit out a message when defending like PetDefend. I'll have to test it later...school time. :-\
It doesn't - the current incarnation of SmartPet is a focus management + pet AI upgrade + PetAttack mod - PetDefend isn't part of it's features at all.
Actually, SmartPet does defend, just not automatically. Part of "The Button" features have it react according to what is happeneing when combat is initialized. To that extent, if you target your party member, it will assist and attack upon keypress.
But I digress, a new version of PetDefend is surely valuable if the automatic features of it haven't had it guts ripped out by Blizzard's nerfing attempts. Otherwise, I have planned to create an AcePet mod similar to SmartPet one day. Yes, not right around the corner, but one day.
I had forgotten 'The Button', but that's mainly because I don't use it. ^_^;; I probably should, too, it'd save me three or for button.
Still, the nice thing about PetDefend was that it did all of this automatically... Just tell the furball what squishy to defend, and it'd rush off the second said squishy so much as stubbed a toe. The SmartPet version requires a few more brain cycles, which can be... interesting... if things are getting bad in a group.
There's always KeyMinder for that ... which can add functions and bind them to keypresses and even alert the user that they need to press a key with an overhead message. Further more, if the user has something like a Belkin Nostromo, they won't even need to worry because they can just set their pads to spam and KeyMinder can deal with it because it only fires a function once; the one you add.

I wonder if I could have it highlight a button (macro) when it thinks it needs to switch to a new target. Would that be useful?
