Could anybody take a quick look at http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/guild-log.aspx and update it for 3.0.2? Or tell me how to fix it myself? I tried to fix it by looking at the Bugsack errors it throws since 3.0.2 and editing accordingly to try to make it work with the API changes but unfortunately without success...
Ohhh, thanks for the tip. I'll try it and see if there are any errors with 3.0.2. :)
I used to use an old version of that but switched to GuildLog when it stopped working after some patch forever ago. Didn't know it was back, must've overlooked it when searching for an alternative on various sites.
ive tried it it doesnt nearly have the functionally that guild log did guild log didnt spam the chat as people logged in and or leveled or left the guild it ran quitely in the background and u could set to show u at login who did what...or check at will please someone fix this and i also have the guild log for the last year on file...
After trying GuildCheck for a few days... I'd like GuildLog back. :P I miss the actual log functionality where it saves what happened in its window indefinitely instead of just changes which disappear after checking them.
How would I fix the following error? It's actually the only one GuildLog throws when trying to open its window.
[2008/10/22 00:48:08-2986-x1]: Guild_Log\Guild_Log.lua:400: attempt to call method 'SetTextColor' (a nil value)
<string>:"*:OnShow":1: in function <[string "*:OnShow"]:1>
<in C code>: in function `Show'
Guild_Log\Guild_Log.lua:333: in function `Guild_Log_look_Roster'
<string>:"*:OnClick":1: in function <[string "*:OnClick"]:1>

If only ... :)
That's just the first thing it barfs on.
In any case I updated Guild Log for 3.0.2 but I'm hesitant to post a link to a filefront page atm.
Author has set the repository to private access only on Curse so I can't update it directly.
Seeing as it's tiny, no subfolders and only 3 files: .toc, .lua and .xml in the addon,
I think it's exceedingly easy for anyone to verify that it's a legitimate attachment so here goes:

I've used it a bit myself (since I took the time to fix it).
It's prettier than the other log but there's one big problem.
It doesn't differentiate between
"x was kicked from guild by y"
and
"x has left the guild"
It reports both as "x has left the guild".
That's a rather important piece of info to be missing.
This is a very useful tool. I do miss a search function to limit the entries to certain times / characters. (Like yesterday we tried to find out when a person joined the guild).
Another thing would be to ignore officer notes or throttle officer notes. We use EP/GP and mass awards and item handouts leave a high amount of diffs that are logged. Ignoring officer notes or making a snap-shot every day would help me there.
Last thing would be an option to prune / backup information >4 weeks old, as the log does keep growing to 12MB and more.
I far preferred the earlier mentioned GuildCheck to GuildLog. Despite it not receiving updates since May '09 to fix the ongoing patch-change issues that have arisen. Such as occasionally showing everyone in the guild having left at logon (requiring a restoration of a saved variables backup), among other things. To each their own I guess.
Now in WoW 4.x, GuildCheck is completely broken, with the LibGuild-1.0 library bugging out on load (among other things). So here's hoping someone is interested in ressurecting either that mod or GuildLog for 4.0.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
I suggest trying an alternative like GuildCheck
If that one doesn't work either, I'd be more inclined to update it :P

Guild Log rocks too :)

I am a Guild Leader, and therfore find this addon vey useful.
I have not yet found another addon that could replace this one.
Hopefully, mine will. Guild Manager is in development now. i hope to have an alpha ready for testing very soon.

The addon itself appers to be working but the button to open it in-game is obviously broken due to guild window changes.

Perfect, thank you very much. :)
One could quibble with the grammars of this statements.
