A mod I've been working on for a few months is designed to send messages to other instances of itself in hidden chat channels. Everything works great until one of the characters running the mod gets drunk. The contents of the messages being sent become slurred (and therefore unrecognizable by the other mods) and all of the other players using the mod get hit with an error message.
so my question is:
Is there a function I can use to return whether or not the player is drunk?
Please excuse the simplicity of my questions. I've never dabbled in WoW addons before this mod. I appreciate the feedback so far. To clarify:
On launch, the mod joins a regular chat channel named after the guild that the player belongs to. I called it "hidden" because I don't enable that channel in the user's message box (so they never see it unless they turn it on themselves).
The mod stores an entire dkp database in the saved variables file and uses the chat channel to share dkp data with the other mods running in the guild. The idea is that once the mod running by the master looter gets fresh data, it shares that data with the other mods.
That being the case, I don't need to communicate with people outside the guild, so I think SendAddonMessage() would work nicely. I wish I had known about it earlier...it looks like this would have been a lot simpler to work with.
Is it possible to "join" the addonmessage channel so I can keep an eye on the mods talking to each other (for testing purposes)?
