I updated Cartographer on Sunday and it broke severely., The options window comes up completely blank and the map is quiet broken with most waypoints not loaded at all. I rolled back to the version I was running before and everything is back to normal.
It seems that ckKnight removed the internal modules and placed them as external addons. Therefore you need the "Cartographer" folder in your addons directory, but you also need "Cartographer_Battlegrounds", "Cartographer_Instances", etc. if you want those modules to load up. Check what's inside the zip file you get. You can find the latest version (or so I think it's the latest version) over at curse now that files.wowace.com has gone dead.
IMO, dump Cart2 for the following
Cart-3.0 --Main Map modification, looks way better too
HandyNotes & Asorted modules -- Replaces several of the 3rd party modules
TomTom --on wowinterface, gives you a better waypoint than Cart3 does
Gathermate and Gathermate_Data --Replaces the _*(Professions) modules
What, exactly, isn't working for you? For me, only the POI module seems to be broken (errors out indexing a nil value). The rest seems to be working fine, so far.
For the latest Cartographer2 "v2.2", it appears to be working OK if you delete the bugged \AddOns\Cartographer\Cartographer_POI\ folder before logging on. No errors occur with that module deleted.
But...you can't create new Cartographer2 notes. Your old notes will appear and you can read them, but the standard CTRL-click to create notes no longer works. Nothing else you can do will create new notes either.
For a replacement world map alone, Mapster is a decent option.
For making map notes, CT_MapMod is a replacement option. So is HandyNotes. But neither of those--nor any other currently working map note mod--can import your old Cartographer2 notes. So you have to start over from scratch...ick. CT_MapMod allows you to share notes with other users, though, unlike HandyNotes.
