But I've been lurkin for some time :P. Well I posted here because I wanted some help with my UI and as i've said i'm pretty new to WoWACE and I can't do it on my own :P.
Here's the UI
Sorry about the whole embed thing :P
Things I wanna change:
Minimap
Unitframes
Action bars
Chat
And if you recommend something..i'll check it out ;)
NOTE: I already downloaded Necrosis and i'm happy with it :).
>> Things I wanna change:
I'll post the addons I use, these do not claim to be the best choice for all.
>> Minimap
simpleMinimap in coop with bEQL for its questtracker
>> Unitframes
Pitbull
>> Action bars
FlexBar2 with Bongos Petbar... which is not included (yet, i hope).
>> Chat
Prat
Aside from what you asked for, you might want to look into TipTac to move the tooltip, add class/reaction colors, etc.
Minimap:
BasicMinimap
simpleMinimap
Squeenix
Regarding the previous poster's suggestion to use bEQL, I disagree. bEQL does a lot more than let you move the quest tracker, and from what I've read on this and other forums, is apparently rather bloated and doesn't get along well with some other addons. simpleMinimap already includes a "move quest tracker" feature, or there are plenty of addons that only replace the quest tracker.
Action Bars:
Bartender3
Bongos2
Trinity2
Again disagreeing with the previous poster, I would not recommend FlexBar2 to "addon newbies", which you seem to be (it's not a bad thing).
Chat:
BasicChatMods
PhanxChat (yes, it's mine :P)
idChat
any of many many tiny standalone chat addons that do various things
Depending on what you're looking to do, Prat is probably way, way more than you need, and a voracious resource-gobbler.
I thought some seconds whether I should make some suggestions or better post what I use and of which I know is working atm :)
Flexbar2 is quite complex to configure and difficult for an "addon newbie", that is correct, but there is a config gui linked for basic tasks on the wiki. I dont like Bartender3 for it has been to stiff for my purposes. Bongos2 and Trinity2, are they ace-based? Dont think so.
And for Prat: this fits best for all purposes you like except for memory consumption :) Me, too, i like the idea of modules more than having a big package, but for chat mods i used to use 8 different mods which were maintained rather seldom and i had to fix code myself with every new patch. Or had to look for alternatives. That was quite annoying. It is more relaxing with Prat :)

Ace isn't an IWIN button, Bongos2 actually is Dongle based, very lightweight. Bongos3 (which is perfectly usable right now) is Ace3. As for Trinity2 I can't comment, haven't used it.
When will people learn that Ace'd addons aren't necessarily awesome. Good code is good code, no matter which framework if any.

I use PhanxChat, or oChat modified depending on my mood (sorry, phanx - just depends on if I feel like studying some api, which I do by altering oChat since gsub and all that string.format confuses me). Fane and Tenmetsu for tab altering and flashing upon message. Teknicolor (if using oChat) for class colors.
Seriously? They are ALL well maintained, work like a charm too. So using prat because it's maintained, is flawed a little :)
@Moon Witch
I read Chookies posting as of he had the intention to build up an interface mostly based on ACE.
And I am not using Prat because it is maintained :) I am using it because it works and I dont have to spend time trying to get different mods to work together, sometimes just to work :) . I made different experiences than you, as it seems.
Unless you're using multiple mods that are trying to do the same thing, I don't know why you'd have to "spend time trying to get different mods to work together". There's not really any way for a "color player names by class" addon and an "add timestamps to chat messages" addon to not work together out-of-the-box, short of completely destroying :AddMessage, which would result in no chat messages being visible and probably a Lua error every time a chat message was supposed to be displayed. I'd be curious to know which addons you tried that required so much patching and wrangling to get them to work...
Used Teknicolor for coloring and sth i think called ChatTimeStamp for, well, timestamps :)
Then I had a mod which hides the tabs and icons on the left and sth called ChatLoft or so which positions the input field and manipulates tabs, which broke completely and which I dont even find on curse anymore. And a mod which appended group numbers to the names killed the coloring of teknicolor.
Ah, and I used Chatmod before Prat which stopped working with 2.1? 2.2? for me and wasnt updated, so i left it behind and never came back.
And now, im pretty satisfied with Prat. No idea, what Phanxchat does, but i think, i will have a new look around at the time i'll redesign my UI, perhaps then based on ACE3.

I use Trinity 2 beta. It's quite powerful, and still quite light on the resource usage, considering. Its almost as customizable as Flexbar, but is as easy to setup as Bongos2. It does have a few minor quirks however. For pure simplicity's sake tho. I would actually recommend bongos2. If you want to give Trinity a shot tho. Have at it. I -love- it.
I can only really add my personal preferences, like everyone else.
Minimap: Chinchilla apart from the cute name it has alot of nice features
Unitframes: I'm using Pitbull, if you're very into customising they're great sort of an 'anything, anyhow'
Action bars: Bartender3 is what I use, very simple and I'm happy with it. I have used Bongos happily in the past too.
Chat: idchat + teknicolor, idchat adds timestamps, shortens channel names, removes buttons and enables mouse scrolling and arrows for the edit box. There's no configuration or commands, if you want a different timestamp style or channel abbreviations it's a very quick simple edit of the .lua file. Teknicolor adds class coloring of known units to all your chat channels.
