Okay, for action bar addons there is Bartender2, Pubcrawl, Ackbar, idActionBars, and probably a few others. They all have the functionality I want from an Action bar addons but here is my dilema; Which one provides the best perforance?
My guess would be Bartender, as it doesn't create any new frames.
Ill second this, 1 thing to remember though.....you have to use the wow interface to make sure the blizzard bars are enabled that you want. PLUS>>>>>you have to lock action buttons in blizzard interface.
Basically all bartender does is allow you to manage (ie customize) blizzard bars better and removes all blizzard art.
I may speak behalf of lots of people when I say: Screw the performance, use the one you see suiting your needs best. Every actionbar addon has it's pros and cons. Everyone!
Well, I agree you should use the set that has all the options and benefits you are looking for, but screw performance? If that was the case everyone would be using DAB. =) Even though it's not an Ace2 addon, I use Bongos. Its rich with 'basic must have' features (resizing, hiding/showing empty buttons, range coloring, keybind text) without a ton of bloat. You can also combine this with OmniCC (both by the same author, Tuller) for a complete package.
Out of curiosity, with the current selection of ActionBar Mods - are any not FULLY functional? I'm currently using Bongos and would like to take the dive into either Pubcrawler or Bartender2, anything I should know as of yet?
AckBar (which I wrote) is not yet fully functional, which is why I haven't created a "release" thread yet. See also the wiki page which I will try to keep up to date.
As for performance, AckBar does use some more initial memory than Bartender2 because I create new buttons instead of reusing the extra Blizzard ones. I'm eyeing some ideas to make this more efficient but as stated on the wiki page I won't have time in the coming few weeks to do much of anything online.
In other words: use another action bar addon if you can't live without some features, and/or don't want to fix stuff yourself :)
