I've been getting a little frustrated with forgetting to use the Artifact Knowledge scroll when I get nto my characters having collecting it using the Companion App. I want to create a big button on my screen that shows up when I have Artifact Knowledge on my inventory. The best way I can think of doing that is to use Bartender and conditionals ... maybe.
Not Bartender, which only deals with action buttons that already exist in the game (10 bars of 12 buttons each, plus some miscellaneous bars like pet, bags, etc).
You can't create an action button that doesn't exist without Bartender, but what you can do is set an otherwise unused bar to having only one button, place it somewhere obvious, and drag and drop the artifact knowledge item onto it. The problem is that when the item is used, the button will still be visible, although the icon will be dimmed.
On the other hand, if you want an icon to only display when you have the item in your inventory, use WeakAuras.
Thanks. I was hoping I could just create a button that hid itself when it wasn't usable (ie there were none in the inventorty). But TBH the Weak Auras suggestion is probably exactly what I need. This will do nicely.
Another great option is QuestClicks, which automatically shows an icon for usable quest item, dropped items that start a quest and items that you can click to use (like artifact knowledge scrolls and artifact power items (both of those have to be moved to on top of the Click button once to tell it to enable it. If there is no item in your bag, no icon shows. But once you have one of the items it shows the icon and if there is more than one of that item it shows a number on the icon. I have been using this addon since 2008.
