ive got 2 question for you, 1st where can i find that awsome wallpaper??
and 2nd, how do you have so many hard drives? is it a special wire or something? cause mine only have 2 "plugs" for hdd.
1: Attached it for you :)
It's not the original as this is an edit I did of it. The original is just a normal woman, and I wanted something that fit more with my dark theme I got going and so it would fit properly on my widescreen resolution (1680x1050) :)
I don't remember where I got the original, or where to find it sadly, sorry :(
2: One of them is an IDE, the remaining ones are SATAs. My motherboard has 8 (Eight) SATA plugs on it ;)
In case you're wondering what motherboard it is, it's the ASUS Maximus Formula.
Since I posted my Ubuntu setup, I thought I'd post my XP Pro setup just for S&G. Feel free to comment or ask questions.
Also, can anyone point me towards a good guide to dual-booting XP and Vista, when you already have XP installed. I've heard you need to install Vista before XP, and I really don't want to reinstall. So, any guidance in that department would be appreciated :)
My new adventures into Ubuntu and customizations for it!
Conky is bits and pieces of one's I liked, plus a few of my own customizations. Emerald Theme is Orange Door Hinge, GTK2 theme is Mire v2 Blue.
Mouse is Neutral-something-or-other, can't recall. And the wallpaper's just something I found that I thought looked good. Can't recall what the icon theme is, either. Also running Compiz (Which I love XD)
Anywho, attached the screenshot. Let me know what you guys think :)
There's not that much released yet, since most of my interfaces have some bugs and shit that makes it a tad not-user-friendly. But i will probably upload some of it soon, when i'm starting a new theme. :)
Hey, Ocularis, just out of curiosity, are all your nifty stuff available to download? I was checking out your DeviantArt, and it appears you only have screenshots of them up. Some of that stuff is super-awesome :D
did you do the tweak/configuration thing in that doc? if not, try it, it worked for me.
Well, after literally spending more than 12 hours in one sitting trying to fix it, I decided to hell with it, scrapped all the video drivers in Ubuntu, and then let it install the default Radeon 3870 drivers.
Then, after some basic Config.wtf tweaks, it works just fine. Now I'm just down to making it not fritz out when you ALT+TAB/use Compiz's 3d Cube to swivel around to another Virtual Desktop. That's basically the only thing wrong with it (graphically) and then I'll be good to go with customizing it the rest of the way, as I've decided to try and go the whole hog with the customization of it :)
I was so stoked when it worked, I almost cried. 12 Hours is a lot of time to be staring at tutorials, modifying xorg.conf's, and screwing with apt-get, aptitude, etc.
It feels like I've definitely earned the stability and OS now, though :D
I just wanted to thank everyone who posted the awesome Linux screenshots in this thread. They have convinced me to try and make the switch, and I have almost everything set up how I would like.
However, the only thing I can't get working is WoW (The only thing, essentially, maintaining my death grip on Windows). The graphics are incredibly corrupted, can't make out anything, even in windowed (the whole screen goes fuzzy and corrupted). So, once I figure that out, it's goodbye to Windows :)
Again, thanks. I've been looking for an excuse to switch, and this pretty much is what convinced me :)
