you misunderstood me ^^ I was going to make a larger commit that would also remove all the fonts currently being distributed with SM. But the SVN stopped me :/
Besides that, in theory, all old package files must be removed from any addon that ever distributed such fonts; that's something the administrators can handle best though I think.
I made some large changes to SharedMedia localy.
Besides finally dropping support for the old libs and sticking to LSM-3.0 only, I removed all fonts for the moment and added a batch script for MyMedia that will handle the creation of the lua file. Unfortunatly, I'm not allowed to commit a batch script to svn so I'll have to find a solution for that, first.
WRT free fonts, there are lots of pages on the internet, like eg http://www.abstractfonts.com/ , that provide large amounts of free fonts including previews. There are also some pages that help you identify fonts based on some of their characteristics, which can help to find similar looking freeware alternatives for existing fonts.
Does anyone know how using large fonts affects WoW performance? Seeing that Linux Libertine's files are over 1mb in size where all other fonts currently in SM are <100kb...
In theory, only those fonts used by an addon will be loaded but the Ace3 widget for LSM fonts will use all to provide a preview, so that's why I ask.
Besides that, as the author of LibSharedMedia, I wondered lately if distributing fonts as packages makes that much sense. There are many free fonts available on the web and you can hardly pack them all. So you have to make a preselection of fonts you think could be usefull but that's a subjective choice being made.
