I agree with that statement; I personally have been licensing my newer addons with the full GPL. However, I do not want to force anyone to pick any specific license. It is up to the individual author to pick their license.
Take note: if you feel self-righteous because you wrote your great addon that the world cannot build upon, remember that you built it upon a framework that you can build upon. Such hypocrisy is disheartening in a community so grand.
This sounds like a personal crusade to me and has no place in choosing what license would be best for the community. I will say this again: It is not our place to force people to be open source.
I have no issue with Ace being officially open source (that has always been the spirit of it, anyway). However, I would much prefer the usage of LGPL instead of the full GPL. I really don't think it's Ace's place to force any particular license on addons the use Ace.
