I think he is aware this solution exists, however he finds it non satisfactory.
@Oodyboo : what you're asking is technically feasible but that would mean for every configurable parameter you would have to define in which namespace (char, realm, default, class, profile...) you want to store it : you're asking for one thing but be sure that someone else would want to store the position at character level and the missing buffs at default level. Anyway it would lead to a nightmare cluttering of configuration interface...
Yea I find myself often tweaking statuses and indicators etc, and copying my profile every time I change something is nearly as much work as enabling/disabling the spells. I would have to maintain a default profile, make changes, then copy that default to each character profile, and then re-enable the character specific spells each time I made a change.
I guess I thought it would simpler to add another class checkbox list akin to the "Display For" options currently in the addon that would be stored on a per-profile basis. I would guess that those who want character specific profiles for positioning could set each one up for missing buffs (or all enabled buff checks would show for all classes by default). But if it's that complex, then don't bother.
It would be awesome if this addon could check to see if you actually had the spell before displaying the buff missing icon.
I play both a mage and a priest. When I'm on my mage, I see "missing fortitude" and I have to disable all the priest buffs, then enable all the mage ones - "arcane intelligence". A few hours later, I'm playing my priest and all I see are people missing Arcane Int... I have to disable arcane int and enable all the priest buffs again.
I use a default profile for all 8 of my alts because keeping 8 different profiles maintained every time I reposition or change something is absurd.
If checking the spellbook for the spell is not viable, perhaps an option list like the "Display For" class list that checked the class of the caster instead of the target could be added. Maybe call it "Display For" and rename "Display For" to "Display On".
So I could set Fortitude to "Display For" priests, and "Display On" all classes. I could set Arcane Int to "Display For" mages, and "Display On" all mana users.
Just a thought... I may be the only person with this issue and it's not critical, as I have found alternative addons to handle my buffs.
