It simply looks way too hard and complicated to do, as it works around the fact that blizzards raid code don't support sorting by spec. I suggest you simply create the custom raid groups yourself in aguf and use the name list to group people by spec together. I mean if you raid with your guild you know the spec and names of everyone.
There is a problem where party members won't be created correctly if they join while you're in combat. This is a bug in the Blizzard interface code and won't be fixed until they release a new patch. This affects all unit frame addons.
I get errors whenever a hunter gets invited to the party. Unfortunately I missed to copy it, will do next time it happens. One frame, though not necessarily the hunter's will not show. A reloadui fixes the problem without errors.
The error wasn't one within ag though and the trace did not lead it back to aguf. The error was within one of Blizzards UI templates.

Okay, there is a bug in the blizzard secure header code, which breaks all unit frame addons.
If party member #2-4 joins while you're in combat, you will get an error pointing to line 511 in SecureHandlers.lua.
It can be reproduced easily, with the following code:

Yes, same here with r677. No party lead icon on either party creation or switching the lead to someone else. Worked without issues with r676.
Encountered a more serious problem with r677 too (I filed a ticket for it). Here is the text to let people know here who might miss the ticket:

Party frames should appear, no errors. Instead, an error is thrown up and the Warrior in the party (who was invited after I joined the party) doesn't have its normal unit frame. Instead, the entire frame for that party character is a big "yellow bar". No health, no text, no portraits.
I left the party & rejoined, no change. The error didn't reoccur, but the Warrior was still a big "yellow bar".
What version of the product are you using?
Do you have an error log of what happened?

r677 is completely unusable due to this issue. Yes, the flickering auras on the target of target frame were bothersome. But this fix for that issue is far worse.
Revert back to r676 and the party bars go back to normal with no issues on any party joined. The target of target frame has flickering auras again with r676. But its by far the lesser of two evils.
I don't get this problem at all with 677. What happens if you reset your settings? Also nothing was changed that had anything to do with the castbar, at all.. The change in 677 is very insignificant, like 1-2 lines of code, and didn't modify any important parts.
So there is no way you can just change what part of the player frame its connected to? like instead of it being on the topleft it could be the bottomleft or something like that? I ask this because i use my frames in the default locations so the totem frame goes off screen :( No simple lua edit to change from topleft to bottomleft?
Yes, you can move it if you edit the totem module lua. What I meant is that there's no option for moving it.

i'm a long-time aguf user and i recently had to switch to the new version with 3.0. i have a few things i'd like to request:
auf_rangecheck - as a raid healer i used this for a long time and found it to be an ESSENTIAL part of my setup. if i can't tell instantly if someone is too far away for heals or not i waste time trying to figure out who to heal. if anyone is taking feature requests, i think this would be a fantastic feature to implement
raid pets - ag_unitframes has never had raid pet support. pitbull and grid both support raid pets but ag never has.. this is bothersome for any fights with aoe damage (kj, m'uru, etc) as hunter pets are a major part of their damage and forcing the hunter to heal them is a loss of dps.
frames dissapearing - when dying or zoning out/in my raid or party frames dissapear. /console reloadui is required to bring them back. this is getting kind of annoying
bar/text colors - with the old ag_unitframes i was able to change the text color by class. in the new version i only see the option to change bar color by class. any chance this could someday be implemented?

Hi grouch2, many of the things you talk about are already in, like range check. There is a module for it, and it should work, but if not I will fix it right away.
Raid pets will probably come, but they will have their own window, ie. not anchor to their owner like party pets do. That should be fine though.
The raid disappearing when you zone is a known problem, and I will try to fix it as soon as possible.
Coloring the text by class should be in too, I think it is a checkbox you need to select in the text configuration. I can't remember exactly, I'll take a look.
