The only way I could move them was by picking them up and then dropping them on the bin icon, which would place them at the front of the bin.
Ah, ok. You be dropping them on another plugin's icon to choose where in the bin you want to place it. That is a difference from FuBar, where you could simply drop it on the bar itself. The reason for this, if I'm not mistaken, is that a Bin is flexible in its shape where FuBar was only a bar.
ButtonBin is not a comparable replacement for FuBar, IMO. With only 5 bins supported (last time I checked) you cannot mimic a typical 2 bar layout of FuBar, as you're one bin short. In addition to that, it's much more akin to Titain in that you can't freely move modules around, as they arrange in a bin in the order you drop them there, so you have to shuffle your modules whenever you get a new one to get it where you want. And finally, a bin cannot contain both icon-only and icon+text displays, as that setting is bin-wide.
@saltorio: Key words there were "last time I checked". ButtonBin is much more evolved now. There are now unlimited bins, so more than one (or two) "bars" is possible. As for the shuffling: FuBar suffered from the same problem except for the fact that you could designate left/center/right as a place to put the plugin. From there, you still had to drag it.
I'm using Fortress, and find it a better alternative, but it's still not FuBar. Moving modules around requires a bit more work that FuBar, as modules will not automatically insert themselves between existing modules, so you have to break apart your group and then snap it back together (though this is easier than ButtonBin).
How is this easier? With ButtonBin, you merely drag the plugin to the place where you want it in the bin of your choice and it's automagically placed there - exactly like FuBar.
Since 3.02 and the newest updates for several addons, some of these addons wont be displayed in FuBar's Bars anymore - just on the Minimap. Since its quite crowded there I wonder if this is a bug or just some new behavior. I couldnt find any FuBar options to put them back into the Bar. Some examples are Violation and BugSack.
Do I need another addon to be able to put some of my addons back into the bars? Or is this feature just gone for the addons (which I actually dont believe) So what am I doing wrong here? :D
Get Broker2FuBar, or a LibDataBroker display such as StatBlockCore, ButtonBin, Titan, etc.
Check again, StormFX, rearrangments are functional. I've moved icons back and forth within the bin and between bins without any errors. The bins now have a feature to rotate the bin. That would equate to using left justification and right justification in a word document.
I use the term rotate because that is what the option is listed as. You rotate the x-axis to change between left justification and right justification. Center justification isn't an option as it needs two ends to center within. Right now buttonbin is open ended allowing data brokers to be strung in a line without margins.
Meh. I gave a detailed explanation of how to approximate FuBar using ButtonBin and that was NOT what he was looking for. Your conversion tactics will fail! :)
The real solution is to make a "BrokerBar"...and Fortress is not it. I'm talking about a complete Fubar Replacement that works with LDB.
ButtonBin is what I use, and my setup is nearly indistinguishable from FuBar. Basically, I do this:
Bin1: Stretch across the top of my screen.
Bin2: Slapped over the center of Bin1.
Bin3: Enabled "Flip x-axis" to make the bin grow to the left. Slapped over the right side of Bin1.
With other tweaks (alpha settings, font/icon scale, etc) this emulates FuBar's left/right/center paradigm. The only issue with this setup is that when you add/remove "buttons" you may have to shift the Bin2 and Bin3 positions to compensate.
Tried closetGnome on buttonbin, and right click didn't work there either, it only wanted to create sets, not let me switch them. Sadly I had to drop CG and go back to ItemRack
Did it show that you had no sets, even after creating one? Or did you not create one because you had sets made previously? I ask this because with the switch from Ace2 to Ace3, ClosetGnome's SavedVariables changed, making old sets invalidated.
