Yep, no question. Been so long that I forgot what I had installed here...oops.
That "r7..." one I linked last post doesn't recognize Death Knights, Inscription or anything else new. But this one--"FuBar_TrainerFu_WotLK.zip" (from a dark corner of Curse)--does. And besides the occasional issue with skills no longer in the game as previously noted, haven't noticed any problem so far.
But yes, its a big mess & needs updating (much like my apartment).
New Patch and TranerFu and Broker_Trainer not working anymore. Someone out there who can fix on of these two?
"Not working" meaning what?
FuBar_TrainerFu "r74302.29" (the last one) appears to be working just fine here after the 3.1.1 patch today. No errors, unlearned skills appear properly (besides listing skills the character can't train anymore due to the age of this, such as "Remove Lesser Curse"...heh).
Did you checkmark "Load out of date addons" in the character screen?
Broker_Trainer (found in a dark corner of Curseforge, made by an unknown author) is also dead/abandoned/unsupported. And its not even close to the functionality of FuBar_TrainerFu; I found it completely useless.
Only shows that you have unknown skills you failed to buy at a trainer when you were last there...heh. Doesn't show you what those skills are, just a number "i.e. (3/12)". It doesn't alert you to skills you have yet to train on levelling up. Nor does it show skills any levels above. For example, on a rogue, it will say "Rogue" in its tooltip if you have future skills to train. Pretty useless.
With proper externals (or disembedded), FuBar_TrainerFu is working just fine here. At least r150 (Nov27/07) is. A translator went nuts with subsequent revisions and most/all of them are bugged out. Have not tried it with Death Knights yet.
But...someone on the Curse comments page for TrainerFu has added Death Knights, Inscription & so on to it and provided the modified mod for download here. Tried it briefly, seems to work without errors so far (with disembedded libs).
In any case, the original TrainerFu really needs to be ported over to LDB if you don't use Fubar any more, Nickenyfiken. Many people have commented on & use it. Heck, another option is just to update the current one and make sure it provides an icon & tooltip properly when used with FuBar2Broker & a LDB display.
Updated to r49539 to import the old TrainerFu locations into Cartographer_nnTrainers. Ran into an error right-clicking the TrainerFu icon (to access the options) on FuBar 2.0 before running the import script:
"FuBarPlugin-2.0-48629:1092: Dewdrop-2.0: args.MapNotes.args.autofilter: \"type\" must either be \"range\", \"text\", \"group\", \"toggle\", \"execute\", \"color\", \"dragLink\", or \"header\".\nAce2\\AceLibrary\\AceLibrary.lua:133: in function `error'\nDewdrop-2.0-48630 (DewdropLib):2906: in function `Register'\nFuBarPlugin-2.0-48629:1092: in function `OpenMenu'\nFuBarPlugin-2.0-48629:960: in function <...\\FuBarPlugin-2.0\\FuBarPlugin-2.0\\FuBarPlugin-2.0.lua:958>\nFuBar-33424\\FuBar.lua:1132: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\FuBar\\FuBar.lua:1126>\nTablet-2.0-44453 (TabletLib):2541: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\TabletLib\\Tablet-2.0\\Tablet-2.0.lua:2539>\n\n"
EDIT: the options flyout did not and would not appear after this error occurred.
I never understood why anyone would need a note to tell them where a trainer is. I find the trainer once, by asking a guard or whatever, and I know where he is from then on. I only visit a trainer every so often, never really needed a note for that.
Multiple characters with multiple trainers...with those who prefer using their memory for other things? ;)
Trainers not located in major cities?
Preferring to quickly look on the map rather than ask a guard in a major city?
It is faster heading directly to a map location than finding a guard then going there?
Telling a guild member or friend the coordinate location of a trainer you don't have access to in TrainerFu due to being on a different character class at the time?
Can't you add all the trainers from Cartographer_Trainers so that trainerfus filters is used and stuff. ^^
I should just remove the notes module from TrainerFu. It is the most irritating part of the addon and i added it before there was a Cartographer module that did almost the same thing.
Two things here:
1) Cartographer_Trainers has always been pretty buggy (latest build example: when trying to "rebuild" in its options, it bugs out). In the old days, I remember it bugging out when visiting a trainer (or similar).
2) Due to not being able to use both FuBar_TrainerFu & Cartographer_Trainers at the same time until the last few revision days of both, some/many of us have a gigantic database of trainers all over the world built up over many months in TrainerFu that we don't have with _Trainers. The way this is looking to go, it will effectively remove all that time spent acquiring trainer notes with TrainerFu. Meaning hours of time & flight money to re-acquire the trainers.
Which is a really bad thing. The (might be temporary) ability to manually change the TOC to continue use TrainerFu's trainer notes is good, but I really (really) do not want to see this permanently drop the ability to record trainer notes on Cartographer.
Maybe continue to have the Cartographer note ability in the future in TrainerFu (please don't remove it), but with the ability to switch it off in an options setting for those who don't want it? As is effectively done with the last two revisions (48907 & 48979), but requires manual work to do.
The trunk TrainerFu r36630 is throwing up errors. Various errors first started occurring after switching to the heavily revised trunk r36407 yesterday. USEng client, WoW 2.1 live.
"FuBar_TrainerFu-0.2\\TrainerFu.lua:200: bad argument #1 to 'find' (string expected, got nil)\n<in C code>: ?\nAceEvent-2.0-36539 (Ace2):320: in function `TriggerEvent'\nAceEvent-2.0-36539 (Ace2):1019: in function <Interface\\AddOns\\Ace2\\AceEvent-2.0\\AceEvent-2.0.lua:1012>\n\n" occurs often. And it stops working after that.
Have not gone to any new trainers since the r36407 update on Tuesday. Don't know when its happening as the bugs don't appear in the BugSack log (unlike most other errors), only in the !BugGrabber.lua saved variables file after exiting.
And another thing: the revised edition does not seem to be deleting old saved variables info (in an individual character's FuBar_TrainerFu.lua saved variables file), as a mod should do if it uses a different data structure and can't use old data. Instead, it seems to be adding to them/changing them. Of course, database mods should always have some way of smoothly updating data, but hey.
EDIT: r35096 with its original (backed up) saved variables files is working fine so far in WoW 2.1, with no errors. That's the last version before the author moved the branch version into the trunk. Haven't been to a trainer yet, but the rest of the functionality (showing trainers in Cartographer, clicking trainable skills in the list and have the description pop up, etc.) is working fine.
