Could you please add something like vtrack.
I would love to see this build into simpleminimap because changing Colours an having the option to move it arround would be very nice.
Also could we have an option to change fonts? pulling them from the Sharedmedialib?
Quokka, as stated earlier in the last page, this thread is no longer being used for feature additions. Nobody has picked up the mod officially, and the original developer has stopped writing on it. The only changes right now would be to fix bugs. Sorry to deliver the bad news to ya bud.
It goes back to its correct position if I change any of the settings, but until then it just hangs out up in the corner.
I have been having the same issue on a newly created character, but not on any of my old ones.. Not sure what is causing it.
I see that you are using titan panel.. I know in fubar, there is an option to automatically bump the frames down so they aren't behind any of the bars, so my best guess is that neither one is able to reliably move the minimap.
I'll try deleting the smm savedvars and let you know what happens.
edit: I think I figured out what it was without having to delete savedvars. Try right clicking the minimap and turning off both lock and lockdown, then move the map, then lock it again, and change zones, and see if it stays.
would be nice witha simple keybind to show/hide (or is there one already?)
Cos sometimes in raid u might want the minimap...
If I make the mini-addon with that, I would prob put a keybind in anyways, but make it default to hiding it and then when you hit the keybind, it would unhide. Personally tho, I just use the x button if I don't want the minimap..
I'm trying to force my minimap to hide when I'm in a raid, is there anyway to do this via simpleminimap... can't find any settings to do so.
Well, this one will hide anything that is parented to the Minimap itself, but if you use an addon to move the mail frame, or use an addon that grabs the minimap buttons and puts them somewhere (tidyminimap for example) it won't hide them:
I could write a mini-addon separate from smm to do it when you join a raid. If you do use one of those addons that does stuff with minimap buttons, and they don't hide when you type that into the chat box, you may want to talk to the author of that addon and see if they can hook the onhide script so that it can hide each of the minimap buttons.
Thanks a lot. You've been most helpful. Searching through the minimap code and WoW Wiki I have been successfully able to remove the arrow in the middle of the minimap. I'm not sure if it's a frame or not... maybe it would be easier if it was, but here is what I found:
the Minimap frame has a method on it for updating the Player and Arrow models.
I believe SetPlayerModel takes an MDX file whereas SetArrowModel takes an MDL file. This is where I start getting hazy on what to do.
I believe an MDX file is a 3d mesh file that represents the arrow, and the MDL file contains the BLP which is the texture to apply to the mesh (or am I wrong). So if I set the player model to "" (empty string) it removes the arrow.
My question is how would I make a new PlayerModel / ArrowModel? Does anyone know of any good resources on MDX / MDL creation or a different way to do it where I could just use a BLP / TGA??
I'm not sure, haven't really looked into the specifics of model creation, just how to change textures. I will look into it and get back to you
I'm very new to modding and have been wanting to make a few modifications to simpleMinimap for a UI I'm making. I can't seem to figure out how to do certain things though.
1) How do you change the alpha of the minimap border independently of the minimap's alpha? For instance, I want to be able to make the border completely opaque where the map itself is slightly transparent.
2) How do you get rid of the arrow in the center of the minimap? And how do you tell which direction your facing if you wanted to put something else in the middle of the minimap... like a tiny sword or something?
Well, the border is attached to frame MinimapBackdrop, so you could try changing the alpha of that, and the Minimap is attached to frame Minimap, so changing the alpha of that will just do the Minimap
As for changing or completely removing the arrow in the minimap, I'm not sure there is a way to, but the best way to findout is to download the Interface Addon Kit from the blizzard website, and install that. Then look thru the code in the FrameXML folder for the minimap (which is how you become familiar with the minimap's code), and maybe find the solution there. It may be that it is just a frame that doesn't have a name
After resetting the profile (deleting the savedvariable) the new version could be set up just as the old one (border and quest tracking being in the right positions).
Thank you very much for spending your time with my (somewhat stupid) problem =)
You are welcome, stuff happens where a mod author changes how the savedvariables are laid out, and you have to remove the old ones or weird stuff happens.. I recently had to have everyone do that with CDT because I changed the format from using defaults to using profiles..
By the way I added the option to hide the Minimap North Tag.. The option will hide itself if you have the compass module enabled, and will unhide (after closing the menu and re-opening it) after you disable the compass module. I also made the compass module auto-hide the Blizzard North Tag, since it wasn't (the compass module has it's own north tag)..
The direction indicator options need to be localized..
If you can, try downloading something like Visor, Discord, or FluidFrames to try to move it.. I have only used fluidframes so that is the only one I can give you instructions on:
Once installed, go to keybindings, and find the option "Highlight All Mouse Frames" (should be the 2nd one under FluidFrames section). Assign that to something like crtl+shift+H
Then point the mouse at that "line" and press that keybinding you just set. You chat window will say "Highlighting ... Parent: ..." where the ...'s will be the name of the frame and it's parent frame. The frame should be something like MinimapBackdrop.
Once that is highlighted, move it where you want it, and then hit your keybinding again and the blue tint should disappear and the chat frame shouldn't say anything. If it moves and the chat frame says highlighting again, then just move to somewhere that there isn't a part of the ui (point at your character if you have to) and hit your keybinding and the tint should disappear.
Hope that helps.
P.S.: You can get fluidframes from cosmosui.org in the Addons section (dont download the whole set of addons, it isnt necessary)
