I think someone is working on a "Quartz 3" or somesuch, because I saw changelog notes for Quartz stating that it was getting "back ported" features from the new Quartz project. I couldn't find this new project anywhere though, so I guess it's a surprise (oops).
I quickly made a GCD plugin, and it was a lot easier to make than I had thought. So this will be in the next release.
As for merged tradeskills, I already worked on this for a bit, and most of the code is actually in the CastBar plugin already, but I never finished it, so I just commented it out. Shouldn't be too hard finishing this.
The whole point of addon loader is to delay loading until its actually needed, and thus shortening the initial loading screen. Now tell me why you would require target castbars in a town?
Flawed argument. Quartz doesn't have separate AddonLoader support for each module as far as I know (and certainly won't in a successor/update if the modules are embedded), and I just gave a reason why I frequently use player cast bars in town.
If it did have per-module support, then by default it should load the player cast bar on load, and the rest on-use.
Edit: I should note that I only used half of Quartz's modules as well, as I use agUF for anything other than player and pet, and I don't use it to track any buffs/debuffs or whatever. That pretty much just leaves player, pet, mirror, flight timer, tradeskill merge, etc. The unused modules are disabled at the character selection screen addons list level (and I'm kind of hesitant about embedding the modules because it will make my UI seize up twice as long when AddonLoader kicks in).
These days I like when addons have what they do in their names (e.g. xxxCastBar, xxxUnitFrames) because the Curse Client only lets you search by addon name, and has no ability to filter the addon list display by category (sort, yes, but not filter).
I asked about GCD and merged tradeskill support on ACB's wowinterface page, and the Aezay says he might be willing to do both. It would probably be a good idea to post over there if you're interested in either of those features.
I don't particularly care for AzCastBar either... the configuration is just weird, and it doesn't have all of the features I use in Quartz. The GCD display and the tradeskill merge module are the big things.
Noticed the lack of GCD, didn't even think about the tradeskill merge feature :(
Is anyone maintaining this still? Anyone use AzCastBar? (how does it compare to Quartz?)
A couple of issues:
- on my Hunter, the swing timer seems to be broken such that it operates completely at random. It sometimes counts up when I'm not in combat but other people in the raid are, and it seems to reset its count in mid-cast even though my Auto Shot didn't actually get interrupted.
- the flight module no longer works properly with InFlight. It seems to show a 2 second timer at least some of the time, but that's it.
