That issue occurs when you are viewing the world map for a zone other than the one you are in.
There is no way around this, as the addon depends on the map to tell where the icons should be placed relative to where you are, but the map API can only return info about the currently displayed map, so when you're looking at another zone's map, the addon simply has no way to tell where to show the icons.
If you aren't looking at the world map at all, you probably have another addon that isn't using the map API correctly and is breaking functionality for GatherMate (and other addons).
Cartographer map on; GatherMate off; moving - 60 fps
Cartographer map on; GatherMate on, only herb nodes on; standing - 60 fps
Cartographer map on; GatherMate on, only herb nodes on; moving - 50 fps
Cartographer map on; GatherMate on, herb and ore nodes on; standing - 60 fps
Cartographer map on; GatherMate on, herb and ore nodes on; moving - 15 fps
Cartographer map on, closed; GatherMate on, herb and ore nodes on; moving - 60 fps
So what to blame?
I understood perfectly the first time you described your problem, but you obviously didn't understand my response. Do you, or do you not, experience the same problem with Cartographer3 disabled? To be clear: disable Cartographer 3, log in, enable herb and ore nodes in GatherMate, open the Blizzard default world map, and move. Does the same framerate drop occur?
I, like Kagaro, use Mapster, and have never seen any dramatic framerate drops when displaying herbs, ore, fish, and treasure all at the same time.
If the above experiment, and anecdotal evidence, are not enough for you, maybe you should go re-read the Cartographer3 download page where it plainly states that the addon is experimental. Also, the version numbers are 0.x, which generally indicates a beta-quality release.
Anyway, whether or not you want to accept the answer you've already been given, the problem almost certainly lies with Cartographer3 and not GatherMate. Post a ticket on the Cartographer3 page and hope ckknight gets around to fixing it before the next expansion, or use a different map addon and watch the problem disappear.
Do you get the same performance hit when Cartographer3 is disabled, and you have the default world map open? I suspect the answer will be "no", as I have no such issues, in which case the problem lies with Cartographer3.
If you have multiple identical nodes on the same spot, you should clean up your database (from the /gathermate options panel) to remove the duplicates. These build up over time as you harvest the same node from slightly different positions, as there is no way for GatherMate to identify the location of the node itself, only where you are standing when you harvest it.
Hmmm... Well I know that I, for one, have collected a few clouds in Northrend and also run the wowhead client to upload data. I'm sure others have as well, so if there's still zero gas cloud data at all on the site in Northrend....?
Wowhead doesn't update in realtime as users upload data. :p
i'm importing data to update and add the new WotLK nodes. i'm using gathermate_data. it's set to "merge", and i have Gas Clouds and Mining both checked, but it's only importing mining nodes. no gas clouds are showing up. if i find a gas cloud and extract the gas, those gas clouds do get added to the map, but the import is only working for ore, and not gas.
Looking at GatherMate_Data\GasData.lua, I'd have to say the "problem" is that there isn't any data in there for Wrath zones yet.
1. Type "/gathermate".
2. Click the + next to "Import Data" in the left column.
3. Click "GatherMate Data" in the left column. 4. Click the checkbox next to "Gas Clouds". (I am guessing you forgot this part.)
5. Click the "Import GatherMateData" button.
Also, you might want to try using punctuation next time you post asking for help. "sorry for bad spelling" doesn't impress anyone. Spelling isn't hard. Nor is basic grammar.
I don't think most treasure has a level requirement... and fish may be problematic, as the same type of school may appear in multiple areas with different skill requirements, and I'm fairly certain that different areas within the same zone can have different requirements. You could use the zone skill requirements as listed in LibTourist for a general estimate, though.
An option to toggle tooltips would be nice... I've also been frustrated on occasion by not being able to mouseover the actual tracking dots through the GatherMate circles for nodes that can spawn different types of herbs. For instance, I really don't care to stop and dismount and spend time picking a Flame Cap, but since those spawn on other herbs that I DO want to pick.... well, you get the picture! :P
I believe that the icon needs to be mouse-enabled in order to display the tooltip. It wouldn't take much code at all to make it click-through; just 1 byte more, in fact, to change EnableMouse(true) to EnableMouse(false).
Marroc, the problem occurs when the world map is set to a zone other than the current one. There was a more detailed explanation of this earlier in the thread, but basically, since GatherMate cannot get coordinates from the minimap, it relies on coordinates from the world map in conjunction with the player's coordinates to know where to place the icons on the minimap. If the world map isn't set to the current zone, GatherMate can't get coordinates for the current zone, and can't update the minimap icons.
Quirk, the problem with that is that you're not always in "leveling mode". You may not want to only show things you can get skill points off of. For example, the herb Golden Sansam is still used in endgame raiding consumables (Elixir of Healing Power), yet is "gray" long before maxing out, as it only requires 260 Herbalism skill to gather. Regarding your mining example, if you have 375 Mining, how often are you really in an area with Copper Veins? Unless your skill level is far below your character's level, you're probably going to be in zones with skill-appropriate gathering nodes most of the time anyway.
However, GatherMate doesn't seem to recognize Rich Cobalt Nodes.

What we haven't added is the new node names, so while GatherMate will work in WotLK (assuming you downloaded the WotLK version of Ace3 libs), it wouldn't pick up any new nodes/herbs/veins specific to WotLK.
