I am sorry, i did clearly exclude the red '+' sign in my first reports as those are working.
The Problem i have with the yellow test link of the left is that the client crashes. And it does it not random, but in a very reproducible fashion - which should be nice for any programmer to work with.
Afaik i have eliminated all possible side-effects - like other running Addons, and the client Still crashes. but after these replies it is clear to me that other people do not get a similar behavior on their client. I am not a Addon programmer - so i have no idea which additional Data i can provide. But this lockup must be a blizzard API bug or similar as it does not produce a stacktrace, but renders the client unusable, that even Operating System Keyboard calls - like <alt><tab> or <ctrl> <alt> are not processed.
Have you tried running the Blizz Repair program? I'd do a full repair (WoW will auto backup your Interface and WTF folders), and then only install GatherMate and GatherMate_Data from files.wowace.com. If the problem still occurs, then you'll know for sure if it's GM or Blizz.
[list][*] did the Steps described earlier (/gathermate -> click the yellow "Database Maintanance" menu tag on the left side)
[*] Client does not respond to keyboard action / nor does <alt><tab>, <ctrl><alt> work -> dead
I am using the English Wow Client with TBC and the latest Patch 2.4.2 playing on an European, English Server.
I have no idea why only my client seems to be affected as obvioulsy nobody else can reproduce this.
Um, are you pressing the + sign next to 'Database Maintenance' or just highlighting the term? I apologize now, if this question offends, but I've known many people who thought their addons didn't work and it was just because they didn't realize the + button opened more options.
List tags are malformed.
I suggested teh replace, as if you still have bad nodes in play they wont be deleted on a merge, where as a replace will get rid of all the extra nodes lying around.
The replace cleared most maps of extraneous nodes. Zangamarsh is still very cluttered with herb nodes both in the lakes and off the map. Other than Zanga, there are a few treasure nodes in space on the Netherstorm and SMV maps, but they are sparce and obviously an error.
Also, upon replacing data, adamantite nodes were not re-added to the maps.
Here is a shot of Zanga, in all its over-crowded glory. ;)
P.S. Feature Request, please? I don't know if there's a way to do this but I'd really like to not have Azeroth herbs show up in Outlands, but I want them to still show in Azeroth without needing to manually go through options every time I go on an old world herbing spree. :)
I understand how the system works. But in my experience, only a small number of the nodes listed in the WoWHead database ever seem to exist on my server.
If I fly around a zone like Terokkar with my Herbalist, I can pretty much guarantee that 95% of the nodes I find will be ones I have seen before (I don't use the WoWhead database for any outland node types other than mote clouds). That's what I'm saying: looking at the WoWHead database, the large majority of the nodes showing on any of those maps never seem to spawn on my server.
All this is beside the point however. I'm simply requesting that an option to wipe a zone of a specific node type be added to GatherMate. This is a feature that is available with Gatherer (and IIRC Cartographer as well). Hiding nodes isn't helpful when you want to start with a clean slate for a particular node type. I suppose I could go though and delete each node individually, but that's incredibly tedious when an automated solution could be made.
The easiest thing you can do, as I'm pretty sure there isn't an automatic way to do this in game yet is to goto your WTF folder, delete and/or move, just in case the end result is not what you wanted, GatherMate.lua. This will clear ALL GatherMate data (including whatever junk you had previously imported from Cart or Gatherer).
Now you can do one of two things. First you could do nothing, just manually add all herbs that only you find. If you don't like this, and at least want some nodes you can either download GatherMate_Data from either http://files.wowace.com/GatherMate_Data/ or if you use the WoWAceUpdater you can grab it from there. When you login again goto GM's options, then Import Data, select GatherMateData, select the databases (node types) you want imported (unfortunately this doesn't work with an individual node (copper, silverleaf, etc)) and click on Import button.
While this isn't exactly what you're looking for, it'll at least clean up your nodes. Each week GMD is updated and you can import everytime you update GMD. And for those irritating double nodes you can goto Database Maintenance and press the Cleanup Database button and most double nodes will go bye bye. :D
Why not just wipe your saved variables for Gathermate and then reupload the data? There can't be that many nodes that you have personally placed that would be that much of a nuisance to readd, I doubt you'd even notice. ;)
Have you made sure that Gatherer is disabled? Also, try disabling all your addons except for GatherMate and see if you can pull up the options menu then? There is no mini-map button, so if you're in a capital city you most likely won't know it's working unless you open the options menu (/gathermate).
i have the alpha set on the tracker circle to make it invisible.
so when im flying around looking for nodes, even if i'm right on top of a node, i wont see a circle which is how i like it.
but i still see the icon on top of the yellow dot, which makes the yellow dot very hard to see.
i'll try to grab a ss today or tomorrow though :)
You can't actually have the tracker circle's alpha at zero, since you can't modify the transparency of the mini-map objects, you can have the circle disabled though. One thing you could do is set 'Show Tracking Circle' to 'Only while tracking' and then set Tracking distance to 50 (the shortest GM will allow). This will allow you to be able to see the icon up until you're practically on top of it.
yeah, so its not the circles i want to see, its the icon. I want to see a circle for the herb thast is near me and an icon (not circle) If I select the only while tracking i get only one set; herbs or mining. what I want is herbs to show cirles and mining to show icons (or vise versa).

Since I wanted this for treasure nodes too. What I did was set it to 'always show' and then have herbing set to 'only with profession'. This seems to do what I want. Mind you I'm not a dwarf, so not sure if this would work since dwarfs can track treasure.
use the filter mechanism to only turn on the ones you want
That's not practical... I want to know where Khorium spawns. Turning off Adamantite and Fel Iron permanently, would be silly, since I want to know where they spawn too. Being able to clear my mini-map of spawn pts for a brief moment, so I can verify what the yellow dot is, would be convenient and be one more step in making this addon even more useful. Doing this manually every time there is a node in a direction I may not want to go, is time consuming and if it is Khorium could keep me from getting it.

I will add a button to toggle the minimap display this weekend.
I was wondering if there are plans on making a Mini-Map button for GatherMate? If not, why are you opposed to one?
The feature I would really like attached to a mini-map icon is the ability to one click disable GatherMate. There are times when I am out and there are so many rings in one area I don't know if the node is Fel Iron or Khorium, until I'm at it. If I could disable it instantly, I could see it's Khorium and make a B-line for it, and then reenable instantly. Having to do this manually takes time that is vital when it is a Khorium node. :p
