Hmm, ok, the guy above was correct. They are indeed empty after the last update. Well at least my own portait is empty when I have no target. I have my alpha set very low, so that I am able to see them when they are dark. The frame is simply a lightly shaded area when I refer to it as empty. It is very dark when I do have a target. When I target myself, all of them are dark. When a mob/npc targets me, that one is normal. The mob/npc/other player portaits are fine.
I was coming to report the portrait issue. For me, they are not blank, just very very dark. I think your assessment that they are way behind other textures is spot on. I found that only my own (player) and my pet are this way. If I target a mob or other creature, the portraits behave properly. But if I target myself or my pet, the target portrait is very dark as well. The same applies if I set myself or my pet the focus.
Also, a small issue, but something you might want to look at.. When I load a profile created on another character, all the portraits are animated. I prefer them flat, so had them set that way in the profile. If I go through and select each portrait > animated and then >flat, They are corrected. I was able to duplicate this issue by creating a new file and copying my previous profile into it. All the portraits were once again animated, in spite of the fact that I had reset them to flat.
Benumbed, I am loving the way this is turning out :) Thank you for the hard work you continue to put into this addon.
Benumbed, you may have just pointed to the problem I'm having. Is the plugin functionality there for creating our own plugins? I was wanting to create a plugin to use different graphics for the bars, while using all of the other DaHud functions and events.
I have a sinking feeling that I am going to feel like a complete moron when you see some obviously neglected process *blushes*
copied the dArc folder from plugins/style
renamed said folder to "myname"
renamed the dArc.lua to be myname.lua
redirected the xml file in plugins/style/myname to point to myname.lua
modified the plugin.xml in the plugins/style directory to include the path to my new directory
registered them as textures on the "L[(Bars" listing
defined the image files for the bars.elements list
defined the bars/backgrounds for each player entity (i.e. player, target, pet, casting,)
I do not see my style as a selection from the bars menu, or from the general menu. What did I miss?
DaHud.Style.TarotDHud = L["Tarot DHud"]
This is the first line of my API. Is there anything wrong with it? Style name too long? is there a limit to the length of filenames for the list? how about for the image names?
If you want me to I can provide the first portion of my lua. I really am loving this addon. Enough to actually redo it last night when it got wiped out lol. If I can just get my prefered bars in there, with a couple of minor tweaks, I will be absoulutely thrilled.
You know, there should be a contest to show what folks have been able to do with this addon. There are no limits, as far as I can see. Now that I'm learning dogtag.... holy cow :)
If you use the DogTag command reference window and enter target into the search field, you should find several answers to your question. You will have to decide how you want the information displayed. Give it a shot. I was a little intimidated at first, but once I got to reading the various options I was ecstatic. You can combine multiple types of codes, suiting your preferences instead of the preferences of every other player. The information you are looking for is there. All you have to do is:
enter it in the test field
Ctrl-A to select all of it
Ctrl-C to copy it
go to the custom text field in the DaHud dialog
enter that information using Ctrl-V
It is easier than typing the above instructions was :)
They are grey because they are disabled. Things are disabled because that option not available with the current settings you have turned on.
Erm, that was my point. The option was grey, yet still active and selectable ... As I stated before, it was a minor issue, and didn't bother me at all. I did get the function that I wanted. I'm satisfied *shrugs* I just thought you might need the error information, hence my posting in your forum. Maybe I wasn't clear, but the error had nothing to do with the selection of the (forgotten) function.
Aside from the following issue, I am absolutely loving this! Thank you so much for putting the portraits back in. I may get brave eventually and use DaPortraits for the 3d images, but right now, I am so happy. As I went through the setup dialog there were a few little things that I thought hmm, that's odd, but they weren't important enough for me to even worry about. Stuff like items being grey, but still selectable, etc. Thanks again :)
Oh my... this is great! I have managed to figure out how to use the bars from Phaytal's dhud and use the informational stuff from DaHud. And now I am seeing where Phaytal's is seriously lacking. Specifically a target cast bar, and a focus cast bar. I can create those using Trinity Bars, but I would prefer to have as little clutter on the screen as possible. I apparently need to learn a lot more about DogTags. I just wanted to come by and say that it is posslble to use both addons, though not optimal. I absolutely love DaHud, thank you so much.
I am currently using Phaytal's HUD + xperl for unit frames and love it. I would love to be able to the appearance of Phaytal's hud and the information/functionality of Xperl. Frome the way this looks it seems that it would do exactly that...
Now, If I can just figure out where to get it :) NM! I got it!
