I did. As of the yesterday, that addon did not work at all. It doesn't pull any libs folders automatically and I do use WoWAceUpdater. When I installed that, it didn't have any empty folders, did not pull any folders automatically and would not even load before most of the addons I run and showed up next to the bottom of the addon list.
IMO, most of the Ace addons have gone from minimalistic and fast running, to atrocious monstrosities that require way too many other things, much more than their non Ace predecessors. I loved them when they first started but the entire situation is starting to wear thin. FuBar is so chock full of bugs on a daily basis that I've totally given up running it. The Libs folders was just really the icing on an already waning tolerance level. I run about 3 Ace2 addons now, compared to the 20 or 25 I ran previously, and since doing so I've seen less bugs, less lag, and less reason for me to put my fist through my monitor.
Why am I even taking the time to write this post then? I have no idea, maybe because I want the Ace people to know that, it's getting a bit out of hand these days.
Dont forget, you can always pitch in around here too. We need updates to almost all the wiki pages, and I'm sure we can find an outlet for all that energy. Pop on IRC when you are ready to get to work.
oh have nothing to do with, that I can't handle all the extra addons, it's when I add them to a InstallShield installer that I have the problems since I group the addons to enable users to choose which adds to use:
embeded libs triple the amount of files I need to add to the groups.
You wrote an installer, you should be able to manage the ace libraries with it and run standalone without any issues at all. I dont know why you would be using embedded libraries with an executable installer.
Why do you guys use it? Seriously..im interested in the answer, because 1) it causes lots of problems for me when I try to distribute my addons, and 2) Standalones are better (technically)
Im interested in knowing what could be done to convince you to stop using !!!Libs.
For instance - i created some batch files that would (sorry mac users) let you just copy the !!!StandaloneLibraries directory into your addons folder - then run install.bat, and if you wanted to remove them - run uninstall.bat. It just was a simple change to make managing all those folders easier.
