So it's time to put it up on the SVN, i a not safe for use kind of way if u ask me.
I'm somehow skeptic about that. To be honest with you, i still think this is some sort of a hoax, until there is a version on the SVN.

I mailed/requested an SVN account (I think) 3-4 day's ago. No answer yet, admins are probably still busy because of the wiki "problem"...

Now that this project is off the ground what are you (the author) going to name it? I do not recommend recycling the old name if this a complete recode. Some suggestions: "Aura" (homage to the old PowerAura but nice and simple), "Halo"

I want PowerAura (1) user's to easily recognize this ;)
However, if someone comes up with a cool idea, this would also be cool ^^

I think I'll just steal ... eeeh I meant borrow the texture from Instabolt and either add a "fullscreen" option or you would have to manually adjust the size. It's definitly possible. ;)
PS: Again some progress, event stuff completly done (Combatlog done to). I'm currently writing methodes to register events only when needed. (eg. you won't need BigWigs if you aren't watching any BigWigs messages)

Sounds very interesting, I'm a big fan of Power Auras, is there any chance you could post somewhere your work in progress? It might help to have others debugging too, if it's in a somehow usable state.

The animation part is done and the event management is drycoded to 60-70%, not much progres lately, currently having examinations.
(I think I haven't played WoW for three weeks now, but this will definitly change with the upcoming holidays :D)
WELL, couldnt you do that if you tied the "tracking" for PA2 into the combat channel? you know:

Yeah, thats also a nice idea, with http://www.wowace.com/wiki/Parser-3.0 this should be feasible. Although it is either going be be diffifult for me to make options for it as user-friendly as possible or it is going to be a bit user unfriendly (like some parts of Discord Action Bars were ^^)

Hm, dunno, if BigWigs is firing events when it is diplaying/updating something this sould also be feasible, if not it is going to have lower priority on my list. ;)

Yes, the only way you can track characters appearing on your screen is if you turn on nameplate. SCT has this problem, and thats the only way to do it.[/qoute]
Hm, that's what I thought it could work like, but I don't think I'll even try to implement this.
My big problem with PowerAuras is that if one has a lot of "icons" or whatever you want to call the poweraura things, on the screen, the display will lag. and considerably i found this out because i wanted to have a twinkly star death screen. I do have a very good laptop and it handles a full out wow video experience. so. extra things displayed, especially with fading and effects makes for a lot of processing.
Old PowerAura code was really horrifing. I took a look into it, if there was anything that I could reuse, but I rather desided to rewrite everything all by myself.
The new Ace approach should be way fast, trying to optimize things a much as possible.
Extended feature request: Any chance PowerAuras could be extended to friendlies? I think it would be interesting to be able to have PA draw auras around friendlies that get debuffed. If it's not possible due to 3d world rendering issues, perhaps it could be attached to friendly nameplates?
You mean, kind of like the damage you do is displayed above the mob you hit?
No, as far as I know, thats impossible. I could only "popup" a 3D modelframe in the middle of the screen (not clickable)...
Sounds really nice, I can't wait to try this one out when it's done. Small-ish feature request though, could you add an option to play a sound on the triggers as well as displaying a graphic? Just a thought. :)
I'm currently taking a look into PA and making a bit brainstorming, testing some things.
Probably I'm going to re'ace it (I'm not "porting" PA to ace, I'm rather going to rewrite it, PA code is really horrifying >_<), will post updates
