For what I used to use Archy for, the game now has sufficient functionality... the 'lightbulb' notifier above the character when you're close does the job.
If you get a 'red light', all you really need to do is take a second reading to make sure you 'aim right'... unless the in-game scope has been made more accurate.
That said, what else did Archy add to Archaeology, other than rangefinder accuracy?
If you took two min's to read what the author has posted, you'll know that the project is being totally rewritten.
If, however, you lack the faith or patience to wait, then it's YOU that has the problem...
Here's a thought - let's see YOU put a roots-up Archaeology add-on together, in three months...! Not just for BfA, but for Classic & every Expansion ever launched.
If you have it enabled, there should be a minimap button that has various uses depending on what keyboard/mouse buttons you press... add-on on/off/locked, etc.

On behalf of Torhal:
When a project gets a roots up rewrite, it takes 'as long as it takes'... enough of the 'no news is bad news', already; just be patient'.
Granted he might be a tad more diplomatic, but...

Sounds like Blizz really threw this add-on under a huge bus... best of luck ploughing through the rewrite.
