Is there a way to disable bar snapping? I am trying to set one group 4 pixels below the bottom of the first, but I can't do it in game, and editing the lua directly doesn't seem to work within range of the snapping.
Just tell me which lua file it's in and I'll figure it out from there?
I assume you are talking about frame-snapping? If so, you ought to be able to hold Shift or some other modifier to prevent it from happening. Note that there might be some issues with the group frames (I noticed some odd snapping with Party and PartyPets) but shouldn't be anything you can't work around.
I'm so very impressed how this has all come together.
I did notice a bit of a hiccup (sudden drop in framerate) during Naxx25 in the arachnid quarter, but it was just a second here and there. I am absolutely aware that Pitbull4 is pre-optimisation and just want to say I look forward to the beginning of that wonderful phase. :)
If I could be so presumptuous as to choose the next feature to be implemented, it would definitely be aura highlighting. It's the only thing left on my wishlist. :)
I suppose another more complicated option would be to give us some way of scripting or otherwise controlling when bars are visible. Could be interesting but complicated. I'd rather Raid frames went in before a massive bar-system overhaul.
1. Can't see Hitpoints (or Health) on anyone. I'm using 2 separate layouts for Player / Party and somehow I've managed to mess it up and I can't find the right place to configure it. Tried fiddling around with a few options under Layout -> Texts -> Health but it doesn't agree to show up. :(
Okay, go to Layout -> Texts -> Health. If Health doesn't exist then make a new one with that Name. Make sure the "Attach to", "Location" and "Position" settings make sense (ie, the place exists and is visible). If you still aren't having any luck, you can choose a preset value by selecting any of the "Health" variants in "Code" (bottom of the Texts tab).
2. I would like to use a different font for the styles instead of the default ones included. Can someone please teach me how to do this? :(
I'll assume you've found Layout -> Texts -> Default Font.
If you don't have many options, you might want to install the SharedMedia addon (it's just a bunch of new assets that addons can use, including PitBull). Also, many font-changing addons like ClearFont2, etc come with additional fonts that addons can use.
3. All the bars are currently showing like a '3D pipe' or a horizontal cylinder if you would and I've seen a ton of people using the 'Flat' types. I'd like to have my bars showing like that, but I can't figure out where the option is to do it :(
Check out Layout -> Bars -> General -> Default Texture, and Layout -> Bars -> <bar type> -> Texture. Again, if you don't have many options, you might want to install the SharedMedia addon.
If you'd like to see an addon that uses a tonne of CPU time, try out Omen3 in the arachnid quarter in Naxxramas. My whole computer grinds to a halt in there with Omen3 running. Pitbull4's tiny 6% is nothing compared to that. Be grateful. :)
anyone know how i can keep my party frame frome moving and keep them in one place like when i move my party frames to the top center of my screen for some reason the second i let go of the mouse button the party frames go to either the top far right or far left anyway i can make it stay in the center?
It's possible they are snapping to something. Hold SHIFT or one of the other modifiers to temporarily disable snapping and see if that helps you.
Diewolf, this feature has been in Pitbull4 since early alpha. Make sure you have the latest alpha, check to see that the Combat Fader module is enabled, and then go play with the settings for your Layout.
I know it's really a personal thing, but I find Pitbull4 is so much faster to configure than Pitbull3. Once 4 is finished, I'll have 4 layouts: one for the player and target; one for pets, focus and target of target; one for party and party pets; and the last one for raids. I just mentioned 8 different kinds of frames there, and in Pitbull4 I only need to setup 4 layouts. In Pitbull3, all 8 frames would need to be configured separately.
Once you understand how layouts work, I think you'll find Pitbull4 can save you a tonne of time. In my case, it takes half the time to configure than Pitbull3.
before somebody asks,
if you lost all your dogtag text btw PitBull4-r20090118084535 and PitBull4-r20090119054603, don't worry it's still there, you just have to edit the savedvariables pitbull4.lua and change "texts" to "elements".
thought i would share.
Doh! Wasn't clever enough to go check. :( Still, was an opportunity to further tune my tags. :)
Great work, Silky! You are now officially a Lua hacker. :P
I don't even know if there is another way to do this. I was thinking that there was a slim possibility that we could have a small snippet of code that always makes them show full-body, and another snippet that always makes them show bust. Not sure my understanding of why the problem exists is complete.
