Yeah, I was sort of stuck on what I could have reported to help you figure it out. /shrug
I use PitBull4 for all my unitframe needs. :) I have 4 layouts: Player+Target, Pet+TargetOfTarget+Focus, Party, and Raid.
Raid has HPColor'ed Names and no other LuaTexts.
Party has Name, HPColor'ed Health, DifficultyColor'ed Level+Classification and nothing else.
Pet+TargetOfTarget+Focus is the same as Party but with cast bars, Cast, Cast Time, color'ed Power and colored Threat.
Player+Target is the same but with the addition of Status Text.
Doubt it's that helpful to know this stuff. I guess there's a lot of HPColor'ed stuff on my frames, but that's all I really draw from all that.
I was tanking Sapphiron 25 with my DK. After ducking behind an iceblock, I ran back over to Sapph just as he/she landed and my frames took a massive hit. Usually between 20 and 30 FPS and for those few seconds it dropped to less than 5. It was the only time it happened though, and it was fine for subsequent iceblock dashes.
I see that Pitbull4 is still in alpha, but it looks quite promising. I have a fairly involved UI I maintain that relies heavily upoon Pitbull3. Is Pitbull4 ready for primetime, or should I hold off for a bit more before trying to integrate it into a published UI? Thanks.
If you have a decent computer, I'd say switch to PitBull4 now. It's still a bit rough on CPU utilisation, but aside from some optimization that I'm sure is coming, it's far far better than PitBull3. I loved 3, and now I hate 3 and love 4. :)
4 is missing a few nice things though, so check it out and make sure it does everything you need. I'd personally like a few more cosmetic options for debuff-highlighting, for instance. But if you can deal with that then 4 is amazing.
I have a Status text on my player frame layout, and it's registered for the PLAYER_FLAGS_CHANGED. However, I can mash /afk and /dnd and nothing happens. I've also tried using UNIT_DYNAMIC_FLAGS and UNIT_FLAGS, with no effect.
I have a text that displays a creature's/character's race or their form if they are a druid. I currently have this registered to UPDATE_SHAPESHIFT_FORM and UNIT_STATS, but I'm really not sure about the latter. I have no idea on which event I should be checking their race/type. Hmmm.
...is there a possibility to arrange the units in a 25-man raid by group without the shifting?
You'll likely need to make several groups (one for each party, in fact). Tell each of these to only show members of individual raid groups. Then players will stay in their groups. I don't think there's an easier way to do this, but at least you can let all of your groups use the same Layout.
How does the current state of PB4 compare to agUF in terms of features and performance? I'm currently using agUF, having switched over to it back in TBC because PB3 got too heavyweight (probably partially because of DogTag though) and because I wanted to ditch Rock :p
Well, Pitbull4 doesn't have Rock (yay!). DogTag is still used exclusively for text labels, but the way has been made (at least partially) for other text providers. Maybe after it hits the release milestone we'll see lightweight alternatives offered.
I'm pretty sure that PB4 is pre-optimization, but it's not exactly slow either. I'd say PB4 can now do anything agUF can do. I've been using it since early-alpha and I stopped wishfully looking back at Pitbull3 months ago.
Ummm, will there be different ways to show the highlights themselves? I especially liked the way Pitbull3 shows highlights: I think it's one of the warning screen flashy texture things. Pretty swish. The border and frame-background highlights currently used by the Banzai module are nice too.
Something I think was mentioned much much earlier: instead of just stacking the frame highlights so that only one is shown (the most pertinent one, I hope), it could be useful to somehow show multiple highlights simultaneously. I mean on the one frame. Sorry, just woke up and I'm a little incoherent. So if you are a tree-druid and your friend is poisoned and cursed, for the purposes of the highlight it looks as though the frame is cut in half with one highlight on each side?
I just made this ticket: 366: Toggle frame snap on and off. Anyone who ever asked how to do this, anyone who ever answered them, and anyone who knew the answer and was too tired to respond are all highly encouraged to vote for this enhancement ticket. :)
I personally love frame-snap, and make extensive use of the pixel-perfect positioning possible with Ace3's sliders, so this isn't something I would use at all. However, lots of people do seem to hate frame-snap, and this might silence them... forever! :P
I'm just curious, but does anyone else occasionally get "No player named 'Unknown' is currently playing." messages when players join your party or raid? If this is Pitbull's fault, then maybe it's not waiting long enough for group membership details or something. Or it's totally possible I have some other addon screwing up.
Either way, there aren't any negative side-effects aside from the chat spam, so I wouldn't say this is high-priority.
I'm not raising a ticket at this point as I can't be sure if this is a Pitbull problem.
It would be 8 different Groups, actually, wouldn't it? They could all use the same Layout.
And depending on how you want them laid out, you might be able to get away with fewer. I'm currently just using the 1 blob, but thinking about it if I switched to 3 groups I could have my perfect UI. BRB... tinkering with /pitbull...
I'm using TipTac for my tooltip addon, and it got a few updates recently so I just thought it was misbehaving.
Last night I noticed that the tooltip on my raid frames wasn't lingering long enough for me to read it. They would appear, and then disappear. I had to keep entering and leaving each frame multiple times to read the tooltips piece by piece.
I was too lazy to raise a ticket. Does this sound like your problem, Stan?
My target frame I want to only show buffs I give out and debuffs I can cleanse.
Okay, you basically want to get two new filters showing up on the list so you can choose one for Buffs and the other for Debuffs.
- Open Pitbull config.
- Modules -> Aura -> Aura filter editor.
- Advanced tab.
- Set Current filter to "All self buffs".
- Set Display when to "Buffs". It will now show up in the usable filters list, but only for Buffs.
- Set Current filter to "My class can dispel".
- Set Display when to "Debuffs". It will now show up in the usable filters list, but only for Debuffs.
- Layout editor.
- Set Current layout to the one your Target frame uses.
- Aura tab, Filters tab.
- Set Buff to "All self buffs".
- Set Debuff to "My class can dispel".
There are 2 things I want to do with auras on my target frame:
1) Only show the "Engulf in Flames" debuff from MY pet in the Maly fight, with the number of stacks and the time-left counter. No one elses, and no other debuffs but that one.
2) I would like to make my target frame show only buffs dispellable by me (hunter, so magic and enrage effects) and only on enemy targets.
Until 3.1, there is no simple way for an add-on to determine if an aura was from your pet / vehicle. The only information at the moment is if it was cast by you or someone else. That's it. We'll just have to wait until 3.1.
Okay, to set up a filter:
Open Pitbull config
Modules -> Aura -> Aura filter editor
Change the Current filter to "Hunter can dispel"
Change Display when to "Always"
Now you ought to be able to select that filter in the appropriate list in your Layout -> Aura -> Filters.
