I have addons for wow and use Reward Store. Just got this email:
Our records indicate you last provided Twitch with your U.S. tax information on a signed IRS Form W-8 on or before December 31st, 2018. Because your form expires on December 31st, 2021, you must resubmit your tax information to us.
The problem is, that the link they sent is broken and I am not able to find "Click “Affiliate/Partner Onboarding”." anywhere on the twitch or curse website... I checked the FAQ page about this and it has the same broken link... Someone knows where to update it?
Ah, I didn't know that curse is not owned by twitch. I received this email twice already. So, I am curious, do I need to send it to curse in some way or what should I do :)
You can safely ignore the e-mail from Twitch about the tax form. Just means that you had filled the tax form previously, when CurseForge was owned by Twitch. All you need to do is inform your local tax authorities about your income from CurseForge, like you would with any other income :)
As mentioned is CurseForges Terms of Service "You are solely responsible for any taxes on amounts you may pay or obtain through the Services." https://www.overwolf.com/legal/terms/
This is the last paragraph taken from the Reward Program FAQ (Link):
Am I required to file a tax form to join the Reward Program?
No. This was previously required from Twitch (under Amazon), however this is not required under Overwolf. Additionally, not tax information or confirmation documents will be supplied by CurseForge or Overwolf.
It seems like they added that paragraph just recently and forgot to color the text - it's black instead of white and therefore almost invisible:
I keep getting these tax form mails from twitch too, I guess we all do.
The thing is that most of us still have twitch accounts from the former merge, and twitch too has stuff related to money involved. So for twitch streamers and similar, the mail matters. For those of us only working with addons on curseforge and now overwolf, it does not.
But to put it another way, it does not do anything bad to fill in the tax form at twitch. They aren't tricking you, there's no security risk involved. :)

Opened a ticket, wrote on twitter, after a week no reply...
Same issues here
Twitch shouldn't need this information anyway since they no longer own CurseForge

Neither Curse nor it's new owner OverWolf have asked for it, so I have no idea.
I received the same 2 Twitch emails as you did.

Yeah, I think it's a quite new paragraph. Pretty sure it wasn´t there in early 2021, when I looked for it at least.
Text appears white for me, so not sure what's going on there :)
Wayback Machine has a snapshot of the FAQ page from November 24th 2021 and that section was not present. They must have just added it.

After a few e-mails with the twich support, they apologized to me that this mail was pointless and that I did not have to take any further steps ....
