There's multiple research mods out there, I just don't think they fit what I want too much.
This is kind of how I would like it set up;
Technologies are shown on an advancement page; each one is set up similar to Triumph.
Said technologies can gate recipes for either vanilla crafting tables, furnaces, any systems from Extended Crafting or Modular Machinery (including their construction).
Actual research is done similar to Factorio, where large amounts of tiered science pack items must be fed into a machine to progress until unlocked. The packs would share the same sprite, with different colours selectable by the pack developer. Multiple research machines can be used to increase the speed.
You can change the required packs, the amount of packs used, the amount of ticks that each pack lasts and more on a per-technology basis.
Recipes for packs and research machine can be set via JSON or CraftTweaker.
You can also have technologies unlock Stages, although this would mainly be used for gating large amounts of content (like part of progression).
