I'm looking for mods for 1.12.2 that add a sort of RPG feel to MC....so far I have: baubles and potion fingers, tool belt, wearable backpacks, neat mod (adds health bars above enemies), levels (allows you to unlock special skills and abilities for swords and armor), iblis (use experience to upgrade player stats/skills), bonfires (adds bonfires from dark souls to use as teleporters, along with some other stuff), and I also have antique atlas and the multi hotbar mod, but I'm not sure they really count as "RPG" type mods. does anyone know of any other mods for MC 1.12.2 that might give a somewhat RPG-like experience?
Well, Minecraft Comes Alive makes the villagers way better. more like people you might meet in an RPG.
I would consider some of the dungeons mods: Doomlike Dungeon (got to have that one ;-) ) and Roguelike Dungeons work well.
If you want to it to possible to make your own RPG plots / questlines or have special NPC for a server there's also Custom NPCs; just be warned, it doesn't really come with content or make content, it provide a way for you to make content.
I have MCA as well, but I'm not currently using it. ill consider checking out doom like dungeons/ rogue like dungeons but I've never been able to figure out custom NPCs
I love custom NPCs, but its pretty buggy in 1.12. and yes I have reported the bug just not fixed yet.
But ignoring that, for me it's too easy to exploit. For example the merchant system. A player can spawn in an NPC and give them any trade they want (dirt to diamonds) and boom. Ive asked a config to be added for that but it hasn't yet (meaning a config to disable certain roles).
Hopefully, that mod author comes back and does some work ... but I would always love more options and more mods doing NPCS
Strange, it use to be easy to restrict custom NPCs to only creative players (which is usually restricted to admin / op on survival servers). I used it in my 1.6.4 modpack without trouble, and on the server I used them specifically as bankers (a trader as a money changer, plus a vault keeper). I never used them for quests.
yes, I have ancient warfare, but its kinda boring because all it really does is add castles with enemies, since I can't figure out how the rest of it works....besides: the only reason I got ancient warfare in the first place was because it was supposed to add war machines like catapults and trebuchets at some point...obviously that never happened, so for me ancient warfare isn't really worth it

In reply to Lothrazar:
Yes but thats my point. I want survival players to be able to create a handful of NPCs.

Well, I don't see Ancient Warfare up there -- have you tried Ancient Warfare?
